I feel like there are very few teams in the league with a Sunday starter they name before the series starts.

Every team seems to have a starting LHP. Well except for 1.

At least two, that I know of.

Mullins is averaging just over a strikeout an inning and his walks are up from last year. His longest outing is 5 innings / 88 pitches against Ole Miss.

From what others have said, Auburn seems to be piggybacking guys. Still want to get to the bullpen as early as possible and make them use guys to set us up for the rest of the weekend.

Oh I know. I meant to mention that we shouldn't be in the same situation next year, but by the time I finished talking about Mullins, I forgot.

We have 6 lefties in the recruitin gclass with a material chance that all of them make it to campus. I think 4 or 5 is most likely, but all 6 is not out of the question. And of the 6, 3 or 4 probably have long term starter potential, including the JUCO guy.

That is what it looks like when I go back to the stats from previous games. I have seen them use the opener strategy in some games. Last Friday against A&M they threw Mullins for 3 innings and he only gave up 1 run and had only 54 pitches. They pulled him and went to another guy who gave up 4 in 3 innings. Then put in another guy who went 3 innings with 0 ER. They didn't throw any of their guys more than 55 pitches on Friday last week.

Coleman would probably be a weekend starter if he were healthy.

I'm surprised Barnett isn't starting one of the first games for Auburn.

I just hope our guys aren’t pressing at the plate tonight for the national audience.

It's gotta be Dutton on Sunday huh?

I think that depends on whether we need him to go long in relief tonight or tomorrow.

Collins ate innings last Friday and may be asked to do that again. That would put him in with Dutton and Taylor as innings eater / piggyback guys that could be combined on Sunday if not used earlier. Ideally two of them make it to Sunday.

We also have a fresher pen in general than we did last weekend.

Right. He was our LH starter. Tough loss.

I think this will be the approach each weekend. Jay explained that idea in one of his interviews. Maybe the one from Monday or Tuesday morning.

Says the plan is to keep it TBD incase Dutton and/or Taylor are needed before game 3. Seems ideally they don't need those guys and can roll with Dutton and Taylor Sunday.
