Better to be underrated than overrated to start the season. Doesn't matter how low you are ranked when you haven't played a game.

I like to listen to Steele on the radio but his magazine is information overload. I also hate that no matter how bad his predictions are in a given year, he claims his picks were better than any other.

aybe it'll motivate them. But, being ranked in that range to start the season makes it much more unlikely that you'll be in the mix of one loss teams battling for the BCSCG (not that I think we have a shot in hell of getting there).
your right no way les could ever win a mnc at lsu.

BS! It's easier to stay in the top ten than to win your way up. If you are low ranked preseason and lose two games, you have to hope that a lot of higher ranked teams lose more than two in order to get into the BCS.

Win the SEC and it won't matter where you started. I guarantee wins over UF and Alabama will be plenty enough to get into the BCSNCG if LSU wins the SEC

No pressure on us then

There is always pressure...from the fanbase and that's all that really matters. Kids come to LSU to win SEC and national titles. I really don't care what the prognosticators like Mr. Steele say.

He's infallible.
Phil Steele is like Nick Saban's testicle.
Pure radiating brilliance.
I think this is the final dagger in the LSU heart.
Time to burn down the Miles mansion, forfeit the season, hire Vince Lomabardi III, and begin the rebuilding process.

We will be lucky if our dicks work this year.
Thank you for perspective

I'll take them off your hands right now for 3/4 the face value. You won't find a better offer at this point, so just trust me and don't even try.

His mag is the only pre-season magazine I get. He's usually money, I still have the 2007 magazine. I think last year he had LSU at 17, not sure.

Considering how poorly we played again at the end of the season last year, he may actually be optimistic this year.
We add UNC and WV to an always tough SEC schedule. Looks like possibly another mediocre MIles team for year # 3 in a row at 8 - 4.

Do you really think Les would have won a MNC in 2007 had he not lucked into inheriting the most loaded college football program in history in 2005, and then at that he still backed into the Championship game after choking to two teams we should have handily defeated and then only after WV lost to a Pittsburgh team it was heavily favored to beat. In any event, the team still ended up winning the MNC in 2007, despite Les.

Not to mention that had Crowton implemented his offense in 2007 and not waited until 2008 instead, the 2007 team would have ended up being a disaster. Anyway, considering all the talent on the team last year, can you explain how we ended up ranked at 112 on offense last year? I mean most offensive coordinators would have gladly cut off their left nut to have as much talent as LSU had last year. If you can't see that the coaching sucks big time, then you are blind!

Been fairly accurate on our outcomes.
We just need to get used to a team that is mediocre as long as Miles is still at LSU. He has poor game management and player development is very lacking.
NOthing wrong with fighting to be in the TOp 25 and 3rd in our division. Tulane would take it every year. And we would have taken it under Curly and DiNardo.
