Joe Linta, agent for Zach Mettenberger, told me his client doesn’t want to be traded. Just wants to compete with Marcus Mariota for the job

How quickly his agent back-tracked last night's idiotic remarks.

He'll get his chance 4-5 weeks in when Mariota takes off to run and gets broken in two.

Whisenhunt also believe Mariota will go down at some point....

"The way this league is going on, very seldom do you get a quarterback that goes through the whole season," Whisenhunt said. "So Zach will get an opportunity at some point. When he does, he's got to be ready to take advantage of that.

Well too bad for him, because the Titans HC is handing Mariota that job on a silver platter.

I was told how stupid I was for saying that Mett immediately coming out and saying he wants to be traded makes him look bad. I guess those of us that said that aren't quite as stupid as the intelligent folks on the Rant.

We talked to Zach, and that's not Zach in any way," Titans general manager Ruston Webster said, via The Tennessean. "I think he'll embrace the situation here and he won't be traded

Why is Mariota going to get broken in two and not Winston?

I just don't think they are planning on using him like he is the next Michael Vick. He threw for 4400 yards last year and much of it was downfield.

He has to learn to play under center, but I don't get the skepticism.

Oh wait, I forgot. Joey Harrington.

I don't think Zach has anything to worry about. MM isn't an NFL QB.

mobility is a huge benefit for bad teams with shady offensive lines. Zach hasn't won a darn game yet.

i like the sportier but it isn't a competition.

He doesn't have a fair chance.

6th rounder vs 2n overall pick. They would run the Coach out of town if they drafted a guy who couldn't beat out a 6th rounder.

In today's NFL you don't draft a QB 2nd to not play him.

Too late though - you can't unring the bell. And his teammates heard his comments last night.

like they wouldn't feel the same way if they were a 6th rounder, and the team drafted a person to "compete" with them with the second overall pick.

Not Vick, but RG3 maybe. He started off as a dual threat and even did well as a passer, but that rookie season I kept saying if he keeps running and taking the punishment he did his career would dive quickly and it has.

MM seems like a great young man. We will see how he does. Mett is well respected by the Titans and we will see how it turns out. The difference I see between MM and Locker is that Marcus had more talent around him and had a more unique scheme. I think if Mett can stay healthy he will get a chance in Nashville or some place else. I don't think the current HC will last long with a 5-11 or 6-10 record, but it is the Titans so who knows.

Since Bud passed, we will see what kind of football minds the organization has going forward.
