I think his point was that football coach should be paid much more than bball because football is the money maker.

From the tweet that I posted? Nope.

Regardless, even having read the subsequent article, the thread title still stands that there is no buyout clause in Wade's contract.

Was a click bait tweet by Dellenger and I bit the hook.

Buyouts usually protect coaches more than anything. If anything, this is LSU friendly.

Sure, but if he comes here and kicks arse for 2 years, it also makes it very easy for a program with more resources to throw a hefty contract at him without having to worry about chipping in for the buyout.

I can understand programs having more commitment, but name some that have more resources.

Remember all the TV money that is pouring into the SEC. We could win bidding wars with almost any outside program, including many that are more prestigious.

Yeah, wasn't clear on my part, meant more resources in terms of actual use.

and that remains to be seen, too.

Alleva came from Duke, he knows what basketball COULD be. And he sees that we pack in college baseball (afterthought program at any other school), as well as reach mid-upper 90s in football, vs cupcakes.

Basketball done right here could be huge. It was during Dale's era. Create a favorable brand and we're back to challenging Florida for best overall athletic program.

Coaching money was spread out through his coordinators. O hasn't proven he deserves a $4m+ contract yet. Get the team back to 10 wins and a NY6 bowl game and he'll get a bump.

So change the thread title then. Why are you still confusing people?

I've always wondered if Wade even sees LSU as a 'stepping stone'?

Just a hypothetical, so don't blast me.. maybe he's actually here with the intention of building something substantial and not leaving.. does LSU not have the resources to pay him (assuming he earns over time) the same amount as the blue blood schools? if he were to build LSU into a program that's winning the conference and consistently making tournament runs, would he consider staying?

I would see LSU as an easier road than going to an east coast blue blood. The pieces are in place and WW will force LSU to spend to build what he wants. He just needs a product that can compete with Florida and Kentucky on a yearly basis.

I could see him being here for a long time unless he has any NBA aspirations. I can't see him leaving for another college gig unless the situation is right like a Duke, UNC or Kansas.

You just said that it is misleading, and confused you.

Why would you want to keep confusing people? Replace it with the part about both side oweing the remainder of the contract.

That's what makes it odd, dummy, and why Alleva fricked up so bad when he went cheap on the football hire.
