ETA: Just scrolled through the thread and saw that people do indeed pronounce it this way. Carry on, I guess.

About the Geaux thing, I know it was happening in at the very latest, mid eighties. Now, LSU might not have. used it in any official capacity until the nineties....i'm not sure.

In a show of regional pride, Louisiana State fans began using the phrase “Geaux Tigers!” in the 1990s to add some local flavor to an otherwise standard cheer. The words are displayed on signs and T-shirts and painted on fans’ faces for every home game.

Grammatical issues aside, the phrase is singular to L.S.U, which trademarked it in 2005.
