As a undergrad in the early 90s, I used to face people asking in a condescending manner why I was wearing earphones to the FB games. Some of those people would later ask me why certain players weren't in the game or what happened in the previous play. Since I had a radio broadcast in my ear, I was able to tell them about the extent of injuries to explain players' absences & what exactly happened in plays occurring at the opposite side of the stadium from the student section. I can see the benefit of earphones @ the Box.
