People are overreacting
Everyone on here is acting like the season is over.

We have 5 losses the last 2 years by a combined 19 points.

We have absolutely no chance of beating A&M or Alabama.

That's almost as insane as thinking someone could possibly lose their last regular season game at home and still make it to the ship.

Here? On the Rant? No way!

This fanbase is quick to panic and decry the perpetual decline year after year. Perhaps one day a self fulfilling prophecy will allow these tormented souls to be at peace, but until then an 11 win season is still on the table and that is realistic, as well.

To be fair, perhaps I'm just an optimist disguised as a realist, but my perspective allows me the luxury of not quitting mid season as some of you have already done.

Don't misread my post. I was just pointing out that many here cannot accept that people can have hope and support the team and still be critical of how they played. It seems that there are two extremes on this board, the "negatigers" and the "sunshine pumpers" with most thinking that there is very little room between. For myself, that middle ground is where I am at.

I agree with everything that you said, including that Bama and TAMU are both winnable this year by LSU, despite the loss to OM. However, I also recognize the pattern that seems to recur of the defense going extremely soft in the final drive of a close game, allowing the opposing team the winning score (Bama, Clemson, OM) and times when some really strange coaching decisions are made in clutch situations. I still like and support Miles but it is frustrating when he doesn't seem to learn from his previous experiences and mistakes. I don't think that the program is in a decline but it is obvious that the defense is rebuilding this year and I am surprised that they took such a large step back even though they lost so many players, given that they have normally rotated so many in and out to relieve the starters throughout the games.

Like who? I'll give you Ole miss this year. Let's hear the rest.

Bama and Clemson last year. Playing dead against Bama in the NCG. I'm not saying that we should have won but it should have been a game. That is the most recent three that we lost to and shouldn't have or made a much poorer showing that we had any business to.

These so called fans are ruining the LSU experience. Like a bunch of spoiled teenagers that didn't get there toy and now are acting like babies.

If the best we can hope for is playing spoiler for Alabama, then the season pretty much is over.

Season is already over. If you can't win west, sec, or natty then your season is officially over. No goals can be achieved

I don't have an issue with anything in this post, but I do take issue with many on this board who maintain that only a purely negative outlook is being a "realist". That is pessimism, as a purely positive outlook would be optimism; however, reality regarding this season at the present point lies somewhere in the middle.

Saying LSU goes 8-4 and then proclaiming one self a "realist" is obnoxiously incorrect.

So you see no value in winning 10-11 games and possibly playing in a BCS Bowl/New Year's Day Bowl?

As a fan you are allowed to be that weak. You have no higher calling to your teammates or coaches or university. You can be a quitter without consequence.
However, competitors are held to a higher standard, even if the only thing on the line is pride at some point.
