This seems like a good topic, sorry if its been discussed. Ya'll remember Pelini's first game on the road against Arizona St.? That was pretty rough and we barely won that game....Then we lost to Tennessee the next weekend.....

This year Chavis also struggled on the road against Washiington, another Pac 10 team...We better beat Vandy next week....

I thought we did good in the 2nd half, the missed tacklles in the first half were scary though...

Any thoughts...

Hopefully Chavis will start to play more man and get away from the zone. For some reason we are terrible at zone defense.

And it is a very good point, let's leave the verdict out until we get to the friendly confines of Tiger Stadium next Saturday.

Pelini was willing to adapt to SEC play, and change some things on his defensive schemes. Chavis has been running the same schemes for over 10 years in the SEC...Will he change or adapt? I sure fricking hope so!

Pelini's last regular season game at LSU stats:

21 first downs
9 for 18 on 3rd downs
513 total yards
385 yards rushing
1 loss to a shitty Arkansas team at home

I can't wait.

Yeah, and hopefully I hit the POWER BALL JACKPOT TONIGHT!.. It ain't happening..You will look like gang busters the first two downs when he lets his front four or front seven bring pressure..then on 3rd and long..he will go to that zone defense "MUSTANG PACKAGE"...He isn't going to change..No matter WHO THE DB COACH IS...

Yeh good point and true tigerjake, but only after he learned he had to... Chavis's plan last night was vanilla, but we shut those guys down in the 2nd half (i dnt care too much about the late td bc it was meaningless, and the end of the game at 1 in the morning!)

Outside of some very porr tackling in the first half, and we shut those guys down in the first half to...

However, the missed tackles and 3rd down conversions terrify me....

I agree that DMC and Felix Jones were 1st round picks, bbut those same 2 RBs lost to Wisc in a bowl game in 06. And the same season they ripped us, Aub held them to 7 points in Ark, and Mizz (a Big 12 D) held them to 7 points.

I am curious. How long did it take you to come up with this?

not defending Chavis, because his debut sucked. But with your logic, I guess you'd go with Malveto since the defense was great on their last game.

I was thinking of that today. I remember that TN game. Pelini put Chase Pittman in a LB positon on a 3rd and long. Clausen hit the receiver right in front of Pittman for a first down. They go on to tie and then win the game. I think we'll be fine. Too many Saban Kool-Aid drinkers. I think they believe if we fire Miles Saban will come back. We don't want Saban.

Do we get to play an option team every week with zero passing attack?
