yeah i think offering a player money is a violation of NCAA rules, whether you give him physically give him the money after he graduates or not.

Thats waaaaaay too big of a loophole.

couldn't these players just sign up like 50 times before the 1st 1000 and pledge all the money to themselves?

They don't receive the $ until after they complete their eligibility so it doesn't violate NCAA rules

There is no way that it's not a violation just because they don't receive the money while in school.

If that were the case, schools could just open an escrow account and give it to them when they leave.

Why would an undisclosed amount of $$$ keep these kids in shcool for 4 years, when they can leave early, go pro, and make Millions? This is dumb, the kids want the $$$ now, that's why they leave.

$20 for Martin.

Now up to $508, nearly a $300 lead over second place (Okafor).

Sooooo if this is true could a university create an account and pledge money to their current student athletes?

Not that I'm advocating its "legality," but equating or comparing what a university may do and what a private citizen may do in regards to a student athlete is not a sound foundation for such an argument.

They fall under different rules in lots of ways.

I sure hope people aren't dumping money into this, because I am sure it will get the ax very soon and the money will probably never be seen again. No way this can be legal. Hopefully this shite doesn't get LSU into any hot water over stupidity.

Not really, a booster is a booster. But then again the NCAA is shite. Even if you or I were to buy these guys a meal, it is illegal.

Only the first however many people to sign up get free money... It was just to get it going so people see real money on the board... Supposedly went through NCAA and made sure this was legal and they said yes.
