NO RANTARD!!!! jones is great, but there's no one who has the talent to "easily beat" johnson. the guy is a physical freak and was a monster at GT with zero offensive talent and a QB whom made jarrett lee look like peyton manning. johnson is the protytpical WR and is already one of the best in the NFL

and FWIW, jones probably isn't as good as dez bryant. at least not yet

ETA: i love how any player that torches LSU is suddenly the baddest ever around here. KENNY IRONS IS THE NEXT BO JACKSON!!!!!!

Julio Jones was far more dominate in his freshman year that Johnson

Well, that wasn't what this was about. Not to mention, as crappy as JPW was, he was still infinitely better than Reggie Freaking Ball.

don't get me wrong but Jones has the talent to easily beat Johnson.

EASILY beat Johnson????

If you're talking about production, like it was already said, Dez Bryant was better than Julio Jones.

If you're talking about talent, Calvin Johnson is still the best prospect and NO ONE will easily beat him out.

yeah and level of competition has nothing to do w/ this..

i think julio will be comparable with the chance to be better than calvin johnson..now johnson's a freak of nature, don't get me wrong, but i think w/ jones you will be able to tell how great he is by the great SEC defenses he goes up against(LSU, UF, etc)..we'll just have to wait for the next 2 years and see

You better hope you're wrong.

Why would anyone throw his way that often to begin with? It would mean his coverage skills are lacking

Not necessarily. Cory Webster had 7 two years in a row and by the middle of the first year(his soph year) teams were leery of throwing his way. You can't make much hay with an offense that throws to only one side of the field. Too easy for a D-coordinator to load up on the opposite side with help. Even if he's great, PP will get tested each and every game, not to mention he breaks to the middle exceptionally well where many interceptions are born.

That's ridiculously stupid. No one in the history of football could "easily" beat Johnson. He is on of the biggest, most physical WRs out there with arguably the best hands of all time and he rant in the low 4.3.

Jones can barely break 4.5.

As you're seeing from the posts... nobody is betting with your prediction. On the other hand, if you say P.P. is going to be a huge impact this year, I say "absolutely".

I hope that Chavis really gets aggressive with his calls/blitzes based upon our secondary, which I have to believe will be our strength (line, lbs, dbs).

Were posters saying this? Irons did make LSU look bad.. breaking tackles. But, I gave the credit mostly to him. Has he not done squat since?

yeah, people were hyping him way up after that game in 05 when he scorched LSU.

and yeah, he hasn't really done anything since. he was mediocre his last season in college and then only played one preseason game with the bengals before being released

I wasn't saying it, b/c I wasn't born unto this board until last Sept. But, while I wouldn't have been idiotic enough to compare him to Bo Jackson, I would have admirably compared him to Kendall Cleveland. The dude ran tough.

What was his downfall.... versatility? I would compare his running style to Addai. But, I really believed Addai was a sleeper draft pick, b/c of his versatility in catching passes, and the fact that he constantly battled injuries at LSU.

No hi-jack intended.

a great corner isnt all about picks... its more about shutting down your man... sometimes that and getting a pick will go together but you can be a great shut down corner and not get a lot of ints

Despite the Ark. game... how critical was that play that he made for us to win the C/Ship?
