Why does everything have to be a deep ball?

Deep ball keeps the safeties out of the box. Less to block when running.

When you have 8-9 in the box to stop the run, that means that there are only 2-3 defenders deep. Our receivers should be able to beat single coverage and CATCH THE DAMN BALL!!!!

Trying to throw short passes when you have that many defenders within 5 yards of the LOS is stupid.

The fear of an interception clouds the coaching judgment thereby eliminating the short passing game as well as anything to the middle of the field.

On the few occasions we've thrown there it has worked quite well.

Things we didn't do last night in the passing game that we can do if needed:

A. Passes to the backs just past the line of scrimmage
B. Slant routes
C. Hitch routes
D. Reverse pass back to the weak side
E. Tight end pass across the middle (inside 10 yards of line)
F. Passes to the backs in the flats

Anyone who thinks last night's game was going to be the breakout of the 'secret playbook' ahead of a critical SEC game are completely unaware that Les always plays games like this, just like he did. Bland. Vanilla. Players know it and they played like it.

He does not show his cards in a meaningless game. Deal with it.

This. I've lost count of how many times we've had receivers open in the middle of the field but we don't take advantage. Miles is so terrified of an interception that he has practically abandoned that play.

So what fun is that if u are a player though your going to end your career at LSU with single season stats because Miles wants to be vanilla

Receivers who can get open can't catch the ball, receivers who can catch the ball, can't get open. Problem!

I agree. Les is one who does not let too much out of the bag.

Keep telling yourself this, season after season. He has no cards to show. He is inept with pass scheming. Even if what you say is true, it does a great disservice to his players. "Not showing his cards" in no way helps this team moving forward. It hurts us.

Every one of those type of plays have been used by LSU under Miles when needed. Last night's game was a foregone conclusion. The W was assured. Why would any coach give game film away to your upcoming opponents when it's not needed? You'd make a terrible coach.
