Guys, Coach Miles has been here 11 years. haven't you figured out that his offensive philosophy is the ground and pound, supported by great defense.

he'll pass when we need to. he's not afraid to pass. an aggressive passing attack is just not the scheme that he runs.

Get over it. There are no indications that Coach Miles is going to change his philosophy at this time.

I cannot say never, but I do not recall a time when miles used cupcake games to work on the passing game. We work on it in real time when we need it.

Under.
Thank you very much.

I think we'll throw the ball a lot in the 1st quarter.

We're gonna win the game. I bet we'll let Fournette run down the field and score to give us a 7-0 lead, just to set an early tone. Then we'll open it up a bit and let Harris throw some until halftime. I bet he'll end up with right around 20 attempts.

It'll be 85% run plays in the 2nd half. No need to run it up on the Orange.

This.

And it will be a good thing because it means we have the lead, are draining the clock and limiting the total number of plays in the game. It also means we're running the ball well.

I know this is tough for the negas, but all of this is a good thing. Frankly, outside of a few gimmicky offenses, passing is a necessary evil.

The team that:

1. Rushes the ball effectively (~4.8 ypc or better), and

2. Stops the other team from rushing effectively,

will win the football game 90% (or better) of the time.

A high powered passing team CAN impose its will on the other team, but it is difficult to throw the ball 30 or more times, while controlling the clock and limiting turnovers. Typically a team that throws it 40 or more times is playing from behind, or in one of those high school offenses that I hate (although some are effective, I'll concede that).

I'd rather play with a lead.

We throw right about 25 times. I even think 17-18 will be I. The first half.

By the secon half the game should be out of hand and Williams/Guice get some real work.

We'll have the ball a lot in this game. Syracuse just doesn't have the firepower offensively to keep it out of our hands.

15 passes 20 runs first half, 7 passes 30 runs second half

Michigan St does this to perfection, FSU did it with Winston his first year, UGA did it great with Todd Gurley and Marshall in 2012 and 2013 (until both got injured one after another).

I'm not saying we need to throw it that much, but at our peak output, we should be running a 65/35 run/pass ratio. So say we are running 45 times per game, throwing it around 24 times shouldn't be that bad. Bring Harris's avg up to 8 ypa and that's about 192 passing per game. If we are averaging 280-300 yards on the ground and 192 through the air, it will be pretty damn hard to try to stop us.

Thanks for proving my point more beer please.

If their passing defense is 113th against offenses that bad, sounds like Harris may as well be passing against parking cones.
