i dont understand why people leave. if i pay for anything im going to finish it out, no matter the score. plus if everyone leaves to beat traffic then you're essentially not beating traffic. what's wrong with staying later after the game with friends for traffic to die down?

The 2nd picture was Sam Houston State last year. The first home game of the year. 13:08 remaining in the 4th quarter. Everybody was gone.
Tiger fan spends January through August talking about how badly he wants to be back in Tiger Stadium. Is gone by the start of the 4th quarter in the first home game.

I can understand that for out of conference games the kids leave before the fourth quarter but they missed out on storming the field as (I'm guessing) students. They'll likely never have that chance again.

The same thing happened when I went to Oxford in 2013. Sat in the OM section and a lot of OM fans in our group wanted a good spot at the Library. This was going into the 4th quarter, mind you a school that had never won shite in football their entire collegiate careers
eta: Honestly I don't even go in unless it's a big game or circumstantial like the season opener. I'll go to all the home games as it is my last season as a student, but going to home and road games all your life really waters down Eastern michigan more than usual
