We are so use to dominating every opponent we played in the skip bertman days, its hard on me to see us lose these midweek games to teams that dont recruit on our level. Maybe its coaching or teams are not afraid of us anymore and they are coming at us with all they got. Man i miss those Skip Bertman days.

You may get downvotes, but you don't deserve any of it. I agree completely with you. We had a tremendous tremendous run, but sadly now, we're just another team.

The skip Bertman days have been over for more than a decade. LSU hasn't dominated like they did in the 90's. Who could?

But when teams in the middle of the week can come in to your own house and take shite from you on a regular basis then you've become Ole Miss

I think that you have to look at what college baseball has become.

Gone are the days when you can get a hit, a walk and a 3 run HR a couple of times a game. If you look back at what won a lot of those midweek games it was having a great offense that was going to hammer a teams 4th or 5th starter.

Maybe you are not seeing the trickle effect at LSU but I can also tell you that what you run into now with several teams is that you are catching a junior or senior on a Tuesday night that has been through it and is just composed enough to limit some damage and get out of situations with 1-2 runs scoring instead of 3-4. What you are seeing is a team that has several guys that were offered little or no money by the major schools. They have gotten experience and can catch lightning in a bottle ever so often.

The excuse that baseball has changed isn't nearly as big a factor as LSU fans make it out to be. If you take the difference in performance from the old bats to the new and use the national avg (not only elite schools like we were) and apply that formula to our production under CPM it still doesn't equal half of what our old teams did as far as power numbers are concerned. Coastal Carolina hit 100 home runs last season the team we played tnite has like 62 before tnites game while pulmonary's teams hit around 40 home runs per year! It's not the bats brotha it's the coach he doesn't recruit hitters, he doesn't know how to assemble a lineup, he doesn't develope starting pitching, his bullpen is a mish mash of random players and we've all been exposed to his in game coaching. Lol I mean the guy preaches analytics from sun up to sun down yet every post game interview he's saying he went with his gut feeling. He's a used car salesman and a poor one at best who knows Dick about offensive baseball. You don't see Alabama football or Kentucky basketball complaining about the evolutions of their sport they adapt and continue to dominate but for whatever reason our fans are content to make excuses. It's time to move on LSU baseball is above this and deserves better.

In for a dime, in for a dollar.

Uncle Joe should probably go for the trifecta.

Every college coach has a certain "Life Span" at his school and then it's time to move on.

It's that time in baseball now at LSU.

Problem is you have that AD at LSU that borders on being Negligent/Grossly Negligent in his duties with all the unjustified raises and contract extensions that makes it much difficult in terminating coaches that should no longer be employed at LSU.

Skip has been gone for over 15 years. The game and landscape have changed. The bats are different and geauxrilla ball is gone. LSU's success pushed other programs to up their ante in baseball investment. There is far more parity in college baseball today and you would expect that with the limited number of scholarships that are available.
As for dominance, LSU has won 5 SEC Tourney Titles since 2008 with the last in 2014. We've been to Omaha 4 times in that period. Is it Bertman-esque? No, but who is?
No one is going to dominate college baseball like Skip did.
Does that mean we should accept mediocrity or lower expectations? Hell no.

it is and has been over for quite a few years man.

a LOT has happened since the Bertman days but the main differences are....

1-the BATs significantly reduce the long ball so we can't recruit just home run hitters anymore
2-parody in the sport. BECAUSE of LSU's success the sport has been invigorated nationally. there are other reasons for this also. but fans are now buying tickets and big dollar guys are buying suites. SEC network money is being spent on real nice venues and college ball has become like a minor league team in many college communities.

because of the above factors, you have seen and will continue to see a lot of new faces in the CWS and in the Natty category. small schools can make some noise and indeed win it all.
