Casey was their most detrimental factor the past 2 games. Do their fans chastise him? CPM would be thrown outta Baton Rouge with some of those blunders.

I thought they came off pretty classy; no whining.

Me too. No reason to dislike these guys. They had a hell of a season.

Can you imagine The Rant if LSU had been the losing victim of the blind umpire? That would have been epic. The announcer summed it up pretty good when he said that the umpire's calls were spread to both teams, but that LSU's pitching was more accurate and wasn't as dependent on the ump's decisions. All told, he was terrible.

Magridal said after the game that Lange is very handsome, so that he would stare at him all day. :))

If there is anything like a review board for umps, this ump may never call another college game.
It's hard to figure how he could have a strike zone from stripe to stripe of the batters boxes. Not the edge if the inside stripes but the entire stripe. How does a guy come to that decision? The only thing positive about his calling was it stayed consistent for both teams.
That said, we used what was given. OSU didn't.

Some of those calls were terrible. all I can think about is LSU has had games go this way in the past we just came out on top. It doesnt hurt to hit the ball. Hopefully Gilbert gets the credit and we dont have to hear about OSU and their hard breaks.

My thoughts exactly. I understand being upset in the moment but once that play or pitch is over you move on to the next one and adjust. The first out in the 9th is a perfect example. The umpire made a horrible strike call no doubt but the batter didn't adjust. He should have known you get that call he is going right back there with the next pitch if it's close you have to swing. I will never feel bad for a player that looks at strike three. If it's close enough to call it's close enough to foul off at minimum.

Also when Pat Casey came out to argue a play at first and mentioned the foul ball from he day before I knew it was over. They never moved on from that one play in the 3rd inning the game before. It's baseball you have to overcome things.

Yeah, because LSU clearly played well enough to salt both of those games away, right? I'm sorry but if the outcome comes down where one call can sway the game either way, you haven't done enough to win a game. In '06, LSU's offense did almost nothing all day. In '09, LSU trailed Bama for three quarters and sputtered on offense all day.

Back on topic, Oregon State's strength of schedule was in the 80s, and LSU's was top-10, I think. Oregon State had a gaudy record but played nobody out of conference until NCAA postseason time. Cal State Fullerton should have beat them last Saturday until their starting pitcher lost the strike zone and the bullpen couldn't put out the fire.

Even Monday, Oregon State was not that special. LSU played tight that day and made a lot of self-inflicted mental and physical errors along with walking a dozen hitters.

LSU cleaned that up the past two days, and Oregon State didn't respond. And Mainieri deserves a lot of credit for getting this team to shake off Monday. But, yeah, we should fire him for all of the midweek losses.

I'll give Oregon State some slight props..they are young and will be back probably in Omaha again next year as we may well be. Their record although impressive was deceiving simply because they don't play ultra talented teams day in a day out for the most part...

Their biggest mistake was that arrogant little vagina daring to stare down Lange in game 2 after the walk..Josh Smith was in perfect position too see it unfold and soon proceeded to yank his DINGER over the right field wall.

Screw the sports know it alls on the thoughts on the "foul ball hit"...as soon as no protest was offered and the next pitch thrown the point was moot...

We advance, they go home and Madrigal can now go stare down his momma while he watches go toe to toe with Florida...

I do not believe for one second the OSU team will reflect back on the great season they had. I believe they will reflect on that missed call where the ball hit the pole and believe it cost them their shot at the CWS [quote]championship.

The difference of 2 runs or not is huge especially in a game that had good pitching. It's not like a 4-point turnaround in basketball due to a missed call.

Why that play is not automatically reviewed is stupid. Hockey has it right.
