Gotta admit I liked the hire for all the good ol LA boy reasons, but his "shorter practice" theory defied logic (and still does)... some of our young players are trying to learn football basics and somehow "saving energy" is gonna work? They looked gassed and confused. Longer practices, much longer, should be first change starting Monday.

I don't think longer practices would have made a difference Saturday.

After hearing about Aranda comparing our players to Wisconson players, and basically saying hes got to dumb it down, and then thinking about Canada trying to teach 6000 shifts, it makes zero sense to put less work in. But hey, stay miserable!

I coach for a living and we have done it both ways on the staff I'm on. We did the long, grind it out, junction boy practices and come week 6-8 the entire team, including coaches were out of gas. Now I believe it is possible to go too short but in general,a large part of your fundamentals should be coached up during summer and spring practices so you don't have to kill your guys as much during the actual season. Every year you see teams that start hot and fizzle out and typically, they have the long grueling practices in their program.

Saban said the exact same thing when he was here!!! Talked about as a whole, the education for high schoolers in the South was subpar to the northern schools.

The Patriots practice shorter than any team in the NFL. The days of beating the piss out of each other are over. It doesn't work.

Or maybe longer practices would've worn out our thin DL depth even more
