-- Watching Ed Orgeron encourage and instruct made me think if I had to stand and listen to one LSU coach yell at me, he would be the one. It's as much fun listening as it is watching him. His gravelly voice is perfectly suited for coaching the down-and-dirty position of defensive linemen, and that twang that comes from down the bayou makes him sound like a Cajun Fred Flintstone. Yabba-dabba-deaux, anyone? For the younger fans, I'm not talking about the John Goodman version of Flintstone. You Baby Boomers get it.
-- DE Tashawn Bower was missing from practice and freshman Arden Key filled in for him opposite Lewis Neal at the other end. Key is impressive in drills and also just standing around. Coach Les Miles missed his weight by nine pounds. He's going at 6-6 and 231 and does resemble former Tiger Keke Mingo, but not just because he's wearing No. 49.
-- Don't get overhyped on Key. Fellow freshman DE Isaiah Washington looks just as ripped and he's 10 pounds heavier, 6-4 and 241. Washington looked just as agile on the pass rush drills. With Quay Bain gone, he's going to get some playing time, too. Interesting that his jersey No. 94 is the reverse of Key's.

-- It re-occured to me watching the linebacker's individual drills that LSU is in big trouble if Kendell Beckwith gets hurt. The depth at the position overall is thin, but there isn't another player on the team that can do what Beckwith can. Lamar Louis, who is still practicing in a green (no contact) jersey, has played in the middle before but he's too small to do it effectively and down after down.

Eff it, if Beckwith goes down move Jamal Adams to MLB. Rickey goes to SS.

Is Feist that bad?
Never been a Feist fan but was hoping he had made some strides.
Are we forced to go 3-4 if Beckwith goes down ?

I thought Feist transferred? I'd be happy to be wrong, though.

3-4 requires a lot of movement size and awareness from your LBs.
We can't afford to run a true 3-4 right now.
But if QT Adds weight. We could see Davon Quentin and Lac all side by side in a 3-4 look/scheme.

Feist is still on team. From lsusports.net
Versatile defender who has cross-trained at both defensive end and linebacker in his three years with the Tigers ... Has settled in middle linebacker and will serve as a quality backup to starter Kendell Beckwith at that spot in 2015 … Last name is pronounced “feast”.
