I'm worried about match ups that Freeze, Kiffin and Sumlin will dial up against us. Misdirection a and match ups on our lb'ers in general. Also, we need mills back. Thomas gets victimized in coverage.

Steele is probably equivalent to Pelini, i.e. not as good as Chavis "coaching" wise but good enough. He'll make up for it with recruiting, though.

I expect way more than giving up 20+.

That is poor performance against that team.

Thomas has not played as well as he should since his injury. Mills should be an instant upgrade.

This is my biggest fear.

I think we match up well on the line and in the secondary with anyone in the country. However our weak link is the LBs.

If we get caught with one of them in coverage on a go route without help over top, it could mean trouble.

Could be vs SCAR. If not, then UF.

It is frustrating to watch but they do that in order to require the other team to have to run a ton of plays, and time off the clock, in order to score.

I don't really like what Steele does against spread concepts. This opinion is not based on what I saw last night, though that didn't help my perception. I have a lot of question marks about him that I hope he resolves thi

Why? I'm curious. I always thought Chavis was good at defending spread, much better than Pelini or even Saban.

I am most worried about power teams running up the gut.

Jones and beckwith are good linebacker. The problem is we only use one formation.

When they are running we only have 2 lbs on the field. When we know they are passing, we still have 2 lbs covering down field.

Steele needs to mix it up. Louis and Riley aren't bad, put one of them out there along with beckwith and jones sometimes (4-3). Put Thomas and donte covering inside the with just beckwith at lb sometimes (dime).

I have never seen a team on any level run a single formation (% wise) as much as we are in nickel. From the first snap when they are in power set, to the last play where they are in hurry up spread.

I wouldn't call them good either.

What would you call thomas?

And Louis and Riley play a ton, they just replace beck/jones instead of playing with them.

Then why have 2 lbs in obvious passing situations with a big lead every week?

I mean our D isn't bad, teams don't do much in the first half. but UF can keep ole miss from making the game look closer than it was, bama can keep UGA from making the game look closer than it was, why can't we do the same against aub/Syracuse/E Michigan? Can we not give up 2-3 TDs in the second half at some point this year...

I just want to see the ability to
adjust, at all, from Steele. Finish the game

I think we will see a big boost when Mills comes back. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if we see more Dime when he is back, because it gives the staff another guy in the secondary who they can trust.

Hopefully, we'll find out in two weeks.

looked like to me we were sleep walking through the game. I think the players just took for granted that they were the better team. I think the players don't play aggressive enough and sit back too much.

totally agree....so where does the blame lie?

They lacked interest. Inexcusable.

I think it had to do more with mixing up the personnel early. Donnie Alexander and Duke Riley were playing in the 1st quarter IIRC. I believe Herron and Gilmore also played early. I saw that Paris got in the game later so I'm not sure how early he was on the field. We did show some 4-3 also. We clearly weren't worried about winning the game and just wanted to establish some kind of rotation. This team is still improving. I would like for them to be sharper now even off the bench, but this is where we are.

Grade C.....we still seem to struggle when team run/throw to the outside....we react well to plays between the tackles.
