This "tl;dr" shite is really making the Rant unbearable.

Not to me...I actually kind of like it. To me its sorta like "the mark of the dumbass"...kinda lets you know who they are in shorthand form. I mean if your attention span is too short to read 4 or 5 paragraphs then any assertion you make here or anywhere else will always be irrelevant. How can you be expected to have any useful insight if you can't read anything but one sentence explanations?

Very few problems or solutions can be explained in 20 words or less. If you truly have a point to make about coaching, players, strategy etc., reading and posting in longer form is the only thing that makes sense. How likely is it that such a person reads strategic explanations from experts, or reads articles to gain outside perspectives from national writers. Do they think they were just "born" with a head full of "expert" information related to all subjects? How does one gain any useful knowledge without consuming it in long form? Is there some new shortcut to learning physics that I don't know about?

I do understand it. I surely thought I knew everything when I was 22 and was absolutely sure that old farts of 55 had been passed by in terms of the technology us new guys were aces at. The younger generation, to ours and their detriment IMO, has been trained to take and give out information only in sound bites. This makes it difficult for them to have anything more than surface insight.

So from that standpoint, as soon as they type "tl,dr" I know that almost without fail, I am both smarter and have consumed more pertinent information, than they have in their lifetimes. So as one of my hero's used say..."I pity the fool"!

I've always suspected the Nega-tards on this board are really from other schools trying to stir stuff up. Loved your post!!!

I am pretty certain that I sat near this gentleman at the game and I can report that he did his part to contribute to the atmosphere of TS last Saturday night....as did I. He roared and screamed and gave 100% of his energy in support of the purple and gold...as did I. I share some of his positions and don't share others, but as different as he may be (and he is different from a large percentage of Tiger fans), he is still one of us, bound by a common love for our Tigers. Leave him be and take what he posts for what it is, his opinion on something about which he is passionate, that resonates in his soul, that takes him all the way back to the days of innocent childhood when he was attending games with loved ones long gone. Many of us share some or all of those characteristics when it comes to Tiger football. Many are concerned with the corporate feel of TS these days and the internet vitriol.

It was a GREAT atmosphere Saturday night..restored some of my faith in our fanbase!

DormRat, were you in an aisle seat on the last row of a section with the uppermost cross-concourse at your back? If so, carry on brother and good luck with Bama tickets.

WOH! Teatiger, I've been 'outed'! That was me! Let's all sing: "It's a small (stadium) after all..."
Your assessment of the emotions that compelled my post are dead-center bullseye, as well- though some of the loved ones lost are only recently departed. I scream for the Tigers, and I scream for the ones who are no longer with us.
As I said, I expected a fair amount of the "I'm entitled to my opinion, a-hole" BS, but I'm still a bit mystified at the logic or reasoning behind some of the angles of attack. Jeez, it's not like I'm playing QB or calling the plays or something...
Anyhow, whatever. Thanks, Teatiger, they couldn't have done it w/o us, right?

Really, I continue to be mystified as to why such a statistically significant group seem to think that ego is a central issue here. "Put aside our personal opinions and all get together for the good of the team, rah rah..." seems to me the antithesis of ego-driven alpha dog mentality.
Pretend that you're articulate enough to expound on this premise and I am smart enough to grasp your explanation of what this has to do with EGO in my views (but not yours); I really want to understand this.

Hah! I knew it! See, if we trade jabs long enough we'll find something we both agree on- we both believe that the other is under-endowed. But seriously, you do know that pose puts you at about 4&1/2", 5 tops, right? No, I will not send you pics of my meat- hit the showers, Sandusky!

Good post, I 100% agree,

By the way, I saw you leaving north end zone Sat night. You were standing on rails going down ramp with your long stringy hair screaming LSU! I saw you again with your daughter at gate grabbing cup of water, looked like you had a blast.

I love real Tiger fans like you, negatards suck,
rock on!

I wish all these goobers who are patting you on the back for that self righteous diatribe you went on would read a little of this thread. Why don't you be a stud and go back and edit it and tell everyone you disrespected a soldier serving his country on page 5 you grumpy old hippie.

You are seriously equating me in my Desert Combat Uniform on top of an A-10 in a warzone to wearing a Tapout shirt.

For those of you who didn't read the whole post you should have. Thank you OP for writing that and I stand up and applaud you. One of the best post I've read all year. I, personally, am sick of immature fair weather fans who have NO idea what it means to be a true Tiger fan. Fans who have watched LSU since 2003 (or later), who forget what it means to consistently lose to mediocre teams and finally win against even far less superior ones and CHEER our arse off either way. This board has WAY too many arm chair coaches who have never even played football who seem to think LSU (the team, the stadium, the coaches, etc) owe them something just because they buy a ticket...Negative, YOU OWE this team...your respect, and your cheers, regardless how they play...once again, THANK YOU OP...Despite the zzzz's and disrespect you'll get from the board you couldn't be more right in what you wrote

I actually liked this quote from the OP ....

"You are missing the chance at something greater, to feel like you are a part of something, a contributor, a valued asset, to make magic happen and will your team to victory. We cannot win them all, but there is honor and dignity to be had through facing the competition with a heartfelt belief that victory is possible, and by not giving your team the support they deserve you give yourself no chance to be a part of the Tiger Nation that we true fans know that we are blessed to be a member of. Open Letters are pretty lame. I'm leaving at the end of the 1st quarter during the bama game and driving all the way back to Memphis just to piss off The Super Fan.

Thanks, Zilla. Now please don't be offended by proxy when I get back to this other soldier; I'm talking to the clown, not the uniform. Props.

I tried to read it. After the first 2 sentences, I quit reading and started thinking about titties instead.

Damn, Brodrig, you're right that was me! Although, being a Positiger, I would've chosen a kinder adjective than "stringy"...perhaps, 'flowing', 'shiny', 'golden', etc.;-)
Yes I did have a blast!

Well said. It was a great day and night to be a part of. And I think it brought back memories to a lot of us of people we used to enjoy the games with who are no longer with us.

I screamed and stomped and clapped and cheered, and when a play didn't go our way I screamed and stomped and clapped and cheered the next play, and there was never a single moment during that game that did not feel like there was any way that we could lose, regardless of the scoreboard that for most of the game read otherwise. My throat is raw, my voice is a raspy whisper, my back and stomach ache from the gut-wrenching screaming, my hands are throbbing from the high-five beatings and clapping, my ankles are swollen from the jumping up and down and stomping, and I would not trade the feeling for anything in this world.

I believed I could, and 92,000 others with me believed that together we could help the team and make a difference- and together we did it.

This.
All the the rest of this pissin' contest doesn't matter.
For those of us who were there Sat nite....you explained exactly what it was about and exactly how we felt.
