Nice article in the Picayune today, sorry, no link but his former h.school football coach, 6A in Texas, said his junior year, as the starting QB, Walker broke his leg early in the season. Two mths later, after no practices in that period, state playoff game, Walker enters the game late & proceeds to go 12-13, 284 yds & 3 TD's. Coach was quoted as saying he'd never had a competitor like Walker in his career. CPM saw one playoff game live on tv his senior yr & knew then that Walker had the mental toughness to make it in the SEC.

he's good on Sunday because he's a damn fine pitcher and has amazing command.

Finally have a solid Sunday starter and our bats suck.

Our batting average is exactly the same as it was at the end of last season, .295, our slugging percentage is better than it was last year, .433 vs. .422 last season and our on-base percentage is slightly better than we finished last year, .386 vs. .385 last year.

Was a great read...Walker misses the fat part of the bat pretty good...really like our freshmen pitchers plus the everyday guys...future looks good...present team is on the verge of something good...

Where was it at this point last year? We still have several weekends left this year (and the SECT and Regionals) for our bats to shite the bed more times than not.

Sweet.

Our bats started hot this year and have rapidly cooled off since we entered the tougher part of our schedule.

Comparing the end of last season with now isn't a fair comparison since our bats go ice cold vs weekend pitching nearly every series.

We have excellent starting pitching and weak hitting this year, that's a fact.

100% agree. He can throw all his pitches for strikes and can just switch the eye level. Impressed that a true FR can throw off speed in 2-0 counts and the staff has that trust in him.

But not in SEC play.
2016 batting average 305 (lead league)
2017 (so far) 267

Homers 2016 21
Doubles 2016 48
Triples 8
Runs 2016 185 (1 behind league leader)
RBIs 2016 164 (2nd in lesgue)
Steals 2016 40(league leader)
Walks 111
HBP 40 (league leader)
OB% 390 (league leader)
Slg% 426
Ks 145 (league leader)

At halfway point 2017 season
Homers 11 slightly ahead of 2016
Doubles 26 slightly ahead
Triples 0 way behind
Runs 89 behind
RBIs 81 slightly behind
Steals 13 way behind
Walks 54 slightly behind
HBP 28 way ahead of pace
OB% 368 way behind
Slg% 386 way behind
Ks 97 way ahead

In SEC play we are behind where we were last year in many areas.

Missing key stats. Hitting with runners in scoring position and productive at bats with less then 2 outs.

Once again he skews the facts:
In the SEC we are 4th in hitting at .267 and 8th in pitching with a 4+ era and 1 in fielding.

The biggest concern is the schedule gets more difficult. They haven't played Auburn, Kentucky, USCe, or Moo State yet. All of these teams are capable of winning 2/3 against us. These are toss up series at best. I would be elated with a split against these 4 and sweeping Bama. Going 9-6 in the second half would be a great for this team.
Realistically 8-7.

He keeps the ball down and commands both sides of the plate. He does keep an even temperament.
That's why he is good.
