If you want to complain this was too long, then simply skip over and do not read. This just is my own Opinion.
I do not speak for all Ducks. But I have been watching a lot of film on LSU and JJ and such and I really think he gets too much blame. I personally believe a lot of last year had to do with bad O-line pass blocking for him. I saw that much in film. Perhaps in the SEC it is expected that a QB has to get rid of the ball in 2 seconds and never through a pick, but out West if our QB's throw under 2 pics but has tons of yards passing they did a good job as we air it out so much out West. I remember Masoli getting so much flack at certain points for Ole Miss last year from fans with some picks or like 1 pick in a game. But then I would notice how many yards he got. I guess just different expectations.

I will not say JJ is perfect yet or anything like that or may not have some issues. But if the truth be told, in my personal view, he really is not bad. And actually, I think he would do 300 percent better in our system if he played for my Ducks. Even though DT and JJ had almost the exact same running yards last year, I clearly notice JJ is way faster and a better scrambler then DT. DT just gets easy running yards from our special system. JJ had to work for his. And what I see is a guy trying really hard who most often the case was literally running for his life back there as the O-line was collapsing all the time. Now it may be true that the SEC is known for and has awesome D-lines, the best in CF as a whole(that is true), but it also may be true that your whole O-line literally sucked last year at pass blocking. I saw so many picks from JJ just do to being too pressured back there. And up until the BCS title game Oregon was 2nd in the nation at giving up the least amount of sacks after BSU. Speaking of BSU, ever wonder why Kellen More has so much passing yards? One answer: he had an incredible O-line blocking for him giving him all the time in the world to pass. And same for us last year. Our O-line(except during the title game)gave DT all the time in the world to pick his targets and pass. And there is no doubt in my brain that if Oregon had JJ he would of shown 300 times the better stats and been seen as a really good QB. He does have some issues, attitude issues and other issue no doubt. But I think you eat your own way too much. The way that the LSU fans pounce on their own is shocking to see. I have never seen a single team Cannibalize their own such as your fans.

If you are thinking that I have no right to speak this way, you are very true as I am not a LSU fan. But with so many of JJ's skills and being a QB that can run as well as pass, I bet anyone that at Oregon he would be a stud. And who knows, with your whole O-line returning and having more experience, maybe they will get better at pass blocking for him and give the kid some actual time to set up and pass back there without him having to freaking run for his life all the time.

And next time you watch film on these so called great QB's(which they are) like Andrew Luck, Kellen More, Cam Newton and others who had high efficiency ratings and or low picks but notice their O-line pass blocking for them. And I think you will quickly see they had all the world of time and comfort and security to pass. That makes all the difference in the world and in truth it might not be all JJ fault as many think it is.

Just my 2 bits. Good luck in Dallas. And may the best team win. This is going to be one hell of a game! Both teams have been training like man men as if this were the super bowl. Only 1 team can win. The intensity of this game will have no other equal in all OOC college football play. I cannot wait!

With the amount of preparation and training for just this one game I feel even the loser will gain so much from playing this game. And the loser should not slip much in the polls. There are very good odds that these two teams might see a rematch in the BCS title game in NOLA. I was picking Bama to win the SEC, but now I am switching it to LSU because of the intensity of training given to our game and the benefit of how that will help LSU for the rest of the season.

Did you notice their record? Yes, in the SEC, our expectation is the W/L is a more important number than how many yards he got.

But yeah, I think JJ will be better this year due to a more experienced and better OL.

USC in '04? I hate when people act like just because the SEC is the best conference, no other teams can compete with top SEC teams. Oregon-LSU will be a close battle.

YEah i completely disagree with you, it wasn't a matter of time, it was just bad passing. It had to have been his mechanics, because the passes were just ugly.

1. You quack too much duck ...GFY
2. PAC qb's have more time to throw because they are not playing SEC caliber defensive lines.
3. Oh and GFY .

Amen! Well said. The fact is 2 great teams will be playing in Dallas and either team could win. Such is true or elts there would not be so much hype around the game of the OOC year. I can easily tell who watches and follows college football and who does not by their posts. Some of you LSU fans might want to get a reality check and follow your own coach Les Miles who took his whole summer vacation to do nothing other then study Oregon film. And according to him from watching us on film he was major impressed and said, "watching UO play has made me want to train all the harder to prepare for them as they are a incredible team". So for those that are discounting the Ducks, you might want to listen more to your own coach some...

Look, if you wish to pretend the PAC 10/12 Sucks then if you lose in Dallas you will only look more like a fool and you will turn out like this famous Tenn fan: Tenn fan bashing UO and PAC before game

The problem with your argument is look at the weak defenses in yours and boises conferences. I am not knocking yall but the difference between the SEC and everybody else is at the line of scrimmage. Plain and Simple. Even the weaker teams in our conference still have better linemen than 75% of the rest of college football. That is the difference.

JJ for much of his collegiate career has been poorly coached.

While he has been a good runner as you have pointed it out he was never coached well on passing. He was a very inaccurate passer (particularly when dropping back and when throwing the deep balls). No O Line (good or bad) was gonna mask how inaccurate he was, especially last year.

Let me ask you this. What was Dennis Dixon's issues as a QB under Crowton (if he had any)? And if he had any, how did he improve in his final year? It is well documented that Crowton is known to be a QB killer and he pretty much put JJ (along with JL) on life support.

No SEC QB can throw 2 ints a game with big yards and still expect to win.

JJ was awful. He threw more picks than TDs. He was one of the worst ranked QBs in the nation for a reason. There is no defending him

Andrew Luck had 8 ints last yr with 3300 yds. JJ had more ints with only 1400 yds.

gonna have to disagree with you here. Most of it was due to poor qb mechanics and play calling. JJ probably had some of the worst footwork where he threw off his back foot way to many times and his throwing motion is slow. He expects to stand in the pocket for too long in a conference where the defensive lines are the key to most of the teams success on defense. I think he will do much better with a simplified system and just better mechanics in general.

JJ had 4 touchdowns-2 in the opener-and 9 interceptions in the regular season last year. Yes...2 passing touchdowns in the last 11 regular season games. He also had 1,253 yards passing in the regular season, an average of 104.41 yards per game.

That being said, Krags has really cleaned up his mechanics and we're hopeful that he can really turn the corner this year.

C on Z, great question: To be honest, I cannot remember off the top of my head. But I bet BisonDuck knows the answer to your question, him or Bilotibold. I sure they will see this thread, give them time and we can get a accurate answer for you.
