It's a frick frick job by the NCAA. What else is new? There will always be the 4-5 teams that the sports powers that be will look for any excuse to rank high, Chokelahoma, USC, ND, etc.

All we can do is win and call in bomb threats.

I don't, however, get OK over LSU when our two losses were to two teams still in the top 4. AND we have won 7

It's not enough to just say we lost to a high ranked team. We got curbstomped by high ranked teams. We didn't hang with them.

Unless we blow out Bama, we'll still be ranked behind them. We're not impressing the committee with that Auburn game on our resume, so our only chance is to win the SEC and force their hand.

Which would suck because we would be a 2 loss team and be behind 2-2 loss teams that we had beaten

Really because most people were surprised ND was ranked as low as they were

Wasn't talking about them specifically this go around, just in general.

They beat Louisiana Tech, Texas, Tulsa, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

They lost to Kansas State and TCU.

We beat Wisconsin, Sam Houston, UL Monroe, New Mexico State, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss (ranked #3 at the time)

We lost to Auburn and Mississippi State.

Our losses were earlier in the season. That is supposed to count for something. OK lost Saturday, 10/25...

Just doesn't figure. i know we have our work cut out for us. I am not asking to be in the top 4. i just want the reasoning behind a 5-2 team being ranked above a 7-2 team who just defeated #3 in the nation.

A. You're complaining about the difference between #18 and #19 in the first poll realeased in OCTOBER. In the end only the top 4 matter. Being #5 or #105 means the exact same thing, diddly-shite.

B. OU lost to top 25 TCU by 4 in a close game, and top 25 KSU by 1. LSU on the other hand got beat by MSU in a game that wasn't as close as what the final score indicated. It was a complete fluke that LSU even had a Hail Mary at the end. They followed that up by being embarrassed 41-7 vs AU. The better question might be is OU ranked too low.

Auburn slayed us. No doubt. We, however, had a much better showing against Moo State. AND continuously get maturity and improvement as the season progresses. The talking heads say that that is a strong factor. ???

OK lost to Kansas State this past Saturday.

I admit, their losses were closer scores. Scores don't always tell the tale. We played better ball.. (except for the stupid turnover issue) that OM..

Actually to have won a game with a turnover margin of 4 is pretty stout playing in all other aspects of the game.

It was a 3 turnover margin against OM and yes the losses are killing LSU...win the next 3 and see where it stands. No way the the group will put LSU above one loss champions in other power 5 leagues. I don't know why I am even making this argument.

I think his point is? I guess?

We have now move to a human selection committee & We see with the first poll the teams are not being judged the equally. LSU VS Oklahoma just happens to be the teams to his point.

To the other poster 5 vs 105 who gives a shite?????

I give a shite just like any other college football fan should. Otherwise they need to post their top 4 teams and shut the frick up.

LSU has 2 big loses. OM has 1 loss by 3, even though it was with us having 4 turnovers and a missed 21 yard field goal.
Basically this. Also, we have to win out for this to even be a concern. Relax.

Well, the ranking committee is also determining other bowl selections I thought as well, so the rankings DO matter...iirc.

But I get what he's saying guys...think of it like this. At work, your boss makes more money than you do...no problem. You get a nice little raise. You're making...say, 75k. Your boss is making 200k. You're perfectly happy with your salary. Life is good. Then you find out the guy next to you who has a bit of an easier job and has been there a year less is making 80k. Now you're not so happy with your salary and you feel slighted. It's human nature.

Bama fumbled the game away to Ole Miss. Ole Miss showed up in the 4th quarter and caught some breaks. They are not as good as Bama, period.

Really it is a toss up, LSU has a quality win, but embarrassing losses to both AU and Miss St. And Oklahoma has two close losses to top 10 teams however they have no quality wins. I would air on the side of ranking LSU ahead of OU, but the reality is that the committee probably didn't care too much about the 17/18 debate in the first poll. But what LSU fans should be worried about is beating Bama because if not these rankings cease to matter for LSU.

We could have lost both games by 100. I still think 1-2 vs. the top 5, 6-0 vs. everyone else goes ahead of 0-0 vs. the top 5, 5-2 vs. everyone else as a general rule. The only way it wouldn't be true would be if the second team had much better wins overall, and we know that isn't the case.
