Was just reading another post about LSU traditions and it reminded me of how sad I was when I came into TS for the first game a few years ago (someone can help me on the year) only to see they had removed this sign and replaced it with, of all things, advertising. I think was comparable to The Intimidator at Alex Box.

Why wasn't there more of an outcry from the LSU faithful when it was removed? I thought it was a travesty and wish the current students or someone else would start an effort to bring it back.

Because they removed the portion of the stadium the sign was attached to.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they just took the sign off the old SEZ scoreboard and put it on the east side.

Congrats on the sex

Jk

It's back on the opposite side but looks more like a banner than a sign. Purple and gold and geaux font. Wish the old one could be put back up.

But keep in mind, some of the people ragging on the students now are the ones who got Tiger Rag banned.

Amazing how people forget how they were when they were 18-22.

I remember hearing a story that they took it down in the days after Katrina because they were using the stadium to house some of the deceased. Having a sign that said "welcome to death valley" seemed a little inappropriate. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Some are still there. They built some crypts in the old NEZ dorms.

Actually the original sign is not back, there is a smaller version-which someone said was taken from the South EZ jumbotron??- on the East side under the suites. The original version was on the West side & was MUCH larger. I wish we'd go back to the larger sign.
