My biggest gripe with the stadium additions is the split level south end zone. Why on gods green earth did they not match the construction on the north end zone Inside and out.

Same here. North Stadium Dorm - Fall '83 thru Spring '84. I remember the trees outside the stadium provided shade around our section of rooms. When they turned the radiator heating unit on in the winter, it would be about 85 in the room. It was either off or on. You just kept the window open like you did all year round.

It was very impressive at one time. But you attach a huge arse blank wall that resembles a desktop CPU and an attempt at roman arches that ended up looking the outline of a person. I would call that pretty embarrassing. Especially when compared to the outstanding design elements of the original lower bowl

And the four separate sides of the stadium look like a model home with the four different exterior choices on display.

They went from that monstrosity above after starting with this. Completely awful choice in add-on exterior construction.

No matter what anything else says: To me it's the most beautiful place in the world. I can always say I lived in it for one school year - about 100 yards from Mike IV.

Well the south end zone keeps the coliseum style and does a good job of it. East and west sides...no. i agree there. It's cramped on the east side, but the west cpuldve been vaguely creative to look original. At least consistent.

West Stadium here from 1972. August and September were an oven from the western sky with no shade. There was dust everywhere, and I saw a moth fly out of the sink faucet once. As for the furnace heaters, when they kicked on in the middle of the night, it sounded like someone was banging on them with sledgehammers. No way to sleep!
That place was a first class dump!

What you call a blank wall I call an opportunity. Why doesn't the TAF get an artist to do a mural.

That one time at Band Camp......

All the male freshman stayed in the Stadium Dorms during Tiger Band Camp in early August because the Dorms were not open yet.

Huge room with no AC and a ceiling fan.

It was tolerable for a short time.......

You're joking , right?
It was notable before the West and East expansion.

They used two decks to fit in more seats.

Aesthetically, everything done to the stadium since it was a horse shoe has been one bad design after another.

This is pretty much true, except I actually liked the aesthetics of the original two tiered south end zone from inside the stadium. Everything otherwise since then has been an utter abomination. In retrospect, that should have been the last alteration of the place. The 67,000 ‘old bowl’ configuration is about as perfect a setup to watch a sporting event as you will ever see. The slope and closeness of the seating is just pure perfection.
