Our Samoan experiment was a miserable failure. 0/3 right?

I agree.. I thought the suspension was for not meeting the academic standards of the team

247 has a thread on it. Violation of team rules is not an academic suspension, and with no arrest it usually only means one thing. Shea has confirmed he was facing academic ineligibility and could have taken an intersession course to make it up, but after the suspension for the other issue he didn't feel like it was worth it.

I read that not going to class was a violation of team rules. Oh well, doesn't matter. Your post was just the first I'd seen it mentioned that there could have been two different issues.

He probably was gonna do the work but then he got high? They may go hand in hand..

Idk but regardless it's immature either way and stinks but we move forward

Damn idiots in here...

Who the hell was he supposed to start last year? I'm not 100% sure, but I think he became the HBC during the season and not before it started last year right?

So now he is supposed to hold a kids hand and make sure he goes to class and acts like the upper class man he is supposed to be? God forbid the kid have a little culpability....

I thought he'd have learned from his brother but in reality maybe he actually did..

Oh well I still hope he can turn his life around. That's most important.

Well, I'm not sure if this will help, but I read some reports in spring ball and it seemed that Clapp was the only sure starter for the three interior line spots. There was pretty serious competition for the other two, so there was no guarantee he was gong to be the starter. Obviously this hurts depth though.

We'll be ok if we stay healthy up front. If not, we'll be in serious trouble.

If the kid failed a drug test...and can't take the fact that the coach has to discipline him for it.....then he needs to go. It may not help the line, but a coach has to be a coach, and has to do the right thi g regardless of the effect on the team. The precedent is everything. (And I'm guessing g drugs....dont know what else it could be....though I'm sure it will come out I the next few days.) I love our team, but rules are rules, and the coach has to do the right thing....for the school...and ultimately for the kid.

Yet Cam Rob gets busted with weed off campus, no true punishment and doesn't miss a game.

Considering he's started since his freshman year, yeah

I assumed they would get it straightened out and he would play at some point this year.

This sucks.

Yep. Can't have underclassmen seeing that a starter will get a free pass blowing off an entire semester to get high.
