They might have won the football game (after all, we handicapped ourselves that season by not having a QB at all - and we still came 1 game short of winning the whole fricking thing.)

But, it would have been more likely a 24-14 type deal.

Would have been like 21-17 at half.

41-17 or 41-24 final.

They would not beat LSU if they played ten times. And I mean that.

This is pretty much how ever game went outside of both Alabama games. LSU was so strong and conditioned that season. Probably thanks to the offseason preparation for Oregon. Opponents did alright in the 1st half but LSU imposed their will in the 2nd half and made teams quit thanks to a nasty running game.

Oregon, West Virginia in the 4th, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, and Georgia. All decent teams (well Tennessee sucked) that LSU ran over in the 2nd half.

LSU even imposed their will a bit in the 2nd half against Alabama on 11/5. But that's also partly thanks to Saban coaching scared.

Maybe don't get embarrassed by a doormat like Iowa State when you're ranked #2 and you won't have to "coulda shoulda woulda" several years after the fact.

Yes. Women's basketball coaches.
And they lost by 6 in double OT at ISU.
They were up by 17 at one point, but blew it.

Man. I wish they wouldn't have blown it.

My question is where was this bravado the last two weeks of the 2011 season????

At THAT time, he was fricking invisible. I've NEVER seen a coach NOT fight for his team's right to play in that game like this douche. He said nothing at the time, one of the reasons NO ONE gave OSU a 2nd place vote

Sounds like Gundy could have been one of those Okie State folks who failed their drug test after spouting off that horseshite.

I think he forgot that LSU was 13-0, SEC champs and had defeated 3 of the top 5 teams in the country which included Alabama.

LSU was damn strong, but Bama had a defensive monster that was highly motivated watching LSU bask in glory

LSU would have throttled OSU and won the title which is why I was so hurt before we had to play bama a second time.

I knew it was trouble before we played the game... I knew they were the only team capable of beating the Tigers that year

we earned the right to play OSU rather than playing a rival a 2nd time...stupidest thing ever

Especially the last sentence. Had Gundy been able to be TV all day on the day of the SEC and Big 12 championship games like Saban was (because, you know, Alabama didn't get to play in a conference championship game), he would have had a greater soapbox. Hell, ESPN had essentially proclaimed that Alabama was going to the title game, and it was not even up for discussion that day. Even with OSU having a greater strength of schedule and a conference championship, and had not already lost to LSU on their home field.

I will always believe that LSU had no interest in a rematch. They had already beaten them in their place.

If the shoe was on the other foot, you know it would have been Alabama vs OSU, and LSU would have been left out -- and that would have been the right thing.

They would've won, OSU was the most deserving team to play LSU that year and woulda won (but not by 3 TDs).

Hey look! Almost as many downvotes as WVU scored on Clemson that year.

They might have scored a couple field goals but we would've eaten them for breakfast. I actually think OSU would have given Bama a better game though. Course Bama would have put up 45 on their defense.

The playoff committee said ohio state won a 13th game and pushed them past 12 win Baylor.

LSU in 2011 had the 13th win so that pushes them past a 12 win Bama to claim the national championship.

West Virginia could have scored more than they did against LSU. That kickoff return by Claiborne was a backbreaker.

i also remember Rueben Randle dropping a 3rd down TD right in his hands. He was upset afterwards. The game could have been a lot worse than it was and it was already domination
