Agree on Beckham being the greatest of these rookies.

But, how is Chris Collinsworth (aka Collinsmouth) even mentioned here?

Your statement that he didn't face the worst defenses in the league isn't strongly supported. Obviously he can't play #32 each week but he did play the majority against teams in the bottom half of the leagues pass D and on 2 top 10 teams. Meh statement is all. He good.

But Moss played with HOF Cris Carter helping his cause.

I love me some Moss and had him on my fantasy team that year so I never thought his rookie campaign would be touched. And as far as TD's go (which is mostly what you cared about in early FF) Moss wasn't touched.

But look at the # of receptions and yards in only 12 games

Forget the Projections as ODB stacks up in 12:
Odell Beckham Jr Final 2014 Stats
12 Games, 91 Rec, 1,305 Yds, 12 TDs, 14.43 YPC, 108.8 YPG

Randy Moss (1998, Vikings)
16 Games, 69 Rec, 1,313 Yds, 17 TDs, 19.0 YPC, 82.1 YPG

To avoid people like wild whatever crying like "there's no way" how about we say they are 1a and 1b? There isn't even a question if ODB played 4 more games he would have gotten more TD's. Would he have gotten 5? I say, yes. He already has him in receptions and tied in yards in 4 less games. How can we not say ODB just put in the greatest rookie season ever?

How can no one add to the discussion the fact that Moss played opposite Cris Carter a HOF WR and on one of the most prolific offenses of all time on a team that went 15-1.

To me that all that allows for OBJ to be considered even with Moss for the greatest Rookie WR season ever.

What the frick do you think happens on ESPN when they show stats or discuss stats? You think they just remembered that shite?

I have a life but when someone argues that what ODB did this year isn't the greatest by a rookie wr ever, I had to do some research.

Oh and thanks for the read. Comment less

Moss's was still better.

GTFO with projections. You can't project that

Projections are only there to imagine, I am not arguing that he is the best because he is projected to be.

Pay attention and I will not GTFO until I am done.

If I'm looking at the numbers, Beckham and moss are neck and neck. Heck, odell looks slightly better. You old timers just don't want to give up the glory days.

Face it. The numbers show the truth. Numbers never lie.

Awesome season for OBJ, no doubt and comparing athletes from different years and teams is hard to do. A good QB can make a huge difference also how good was the offensive line.

I agree greatest rookie season insane

OBJ struggled his soph year at LSU with drops and cured this towards the end of the season and has been awesome since. Lets give our young receivers this year benefit of doubt

We could argue all day on who is the best rookie WR ever to play.

What about the fact Moss played opposite of HOF Cris Carter? And the team was 15-1 and was the most prolific offense up to that point in NFL history? Kind of really helps Moss' cause.

Vikings didn't have the best QB either to be fair

Agree with this statement. Accurate, tighter spiral thrown at the right time is easier to catch meaning more completions. Catching passes is a direct result of a good pass thrown at the right time. A pass from Manning is easier to catch than a late pass from Jennings.

Hurts his cause actually.

If the 1998 Vikings lined up against the Seahawks today, who do you think Sherman covers? Exactly. Randy Moss playing with HOF'er Chris Carter makes his season look more like taking advantage of a defense spending all their time matching up with a HOF WR

Randy Moss no question about it, teams started to game plan for him.... How that Vikings team with Robert Smith, Chris Carter, Moss, and Cunningham didn't win a Super Bowl that season is crazy

No genius, I meant having Carter helped Moss' cause in terms of him gathering stats. Having Carter hurts his cause in the comparison with OBJ in terms of who was the better rookie.

I don't remember Moss' jersey being put in the hall of fame his rookie year. Case closed, OBJ had a better rookie season.

Best Rookie WR ever!
