Impressive thing about Virginia is they have strong pitching with a physical lineup. The middle of their order is impressive.

He'd be a good one to succeed PM. Might be too old by the time PM retires though.

he's only 43 or so. so he might not be too old when PM decides to retire.

PM mentioned in 2009 he would probably hang it up in 10 years which would be 2019/20 which is only 5 more years. I guess Dunn could be a coach in waiting type if he's still around at that point.

At least the CWS championship series has been worth watching even though no Home Runs. The wind has at least died down to allow more gap hitting that can't be chased down.

They got 3 outfielders in that one class that shockingly ended up in college.

The freshmen class LSU has coming in will resemble that on the mound.

These threads are the worst. Why are you speculating on a coach to replace Paul Mainieri when Mainieri will be here for the next foreseeable future?

Clearly he is great. I don't know the exact stat, but he's won the ACC like 4 out of 5 years?

He has his team where they need to be. They've been so impressive outside of that one inning that one pitcher gave up 5 walks. Not sure LSU fans could handle seeing a pitcher left in to give up 5 walks in the same inning though.. Especially the CWS. I understand they needed to warm up the bullpen, but that's still far too long. They still nearly came back from the 9 run inning, but in the end it was just a bit too much to overcome.

Again though, I would be all for it.

Virginia is giving him everything he needs and wants in order to be successful. He has built them into an elite program. Not sure why anyone would trade that for to come to south Louisiana and never be considered successful until you win 5 titles in 10 years.

Another regional loss next year and we should just go get him instead of waiting for pm to retire

Because he is in the title game. Anytime a coach is in the title game for the first time, there are always threads saying "hey, check out this guy, he is pretty good".

If he wants the job in 4-5 years, and is still keeping the hoos where they are year to year, id love to hire him. This has been said by many of us for the last 5 years.

Id also like schlossnagle at TCU, or stricklin at uga if he continues up, tracy smith at zona st as well

I think we should at least give CPM a chance to see what he can do with this incoming freshman class. If they underachieve...then I'll agree with you then. I don't expect results this coming season but we better have some 2-3 years from now.

What makes you think he would want to leave Virginia?
