The game would have been a different story. He is so much better than any other pitcher in our staff at this point, it's not even close

Yep. You start your ace game one.

We scored 3 runs and that was only after they took Morrison out with the game in hand.

Had Lange pitched, there's no guarantee we win that one because we hit for shite.

and if Poche' lost today we would be in the same spot.

it is easy to look back and make a call on what you SHOULD HAVE done.

I think PM's decision making was solid. IF Poche would have come thru we would be 2-0 right now.

what some people don't understand is that decisions must be made before an event; not after.

No reason to believe TCU would've scored less than CSF did against Lange today. And no reason to believe having Lange on the mound would've caused our bats to come alive and score more than 0 runs against Morrison. I still think we lose game 1. Obviously, impossible to know.

I'd say the big difference is how the 2 handled adversity. Poche melted, Lange battled back and kept us alive. That is why you start your ace in game 1. Once Poche imploded the team pretty much waved the white towel.

Would Lange have insured victory Sunday? Nope but we would have at least had a chance to win.

because the offensive outcome would have been the exact same if Lange pitched.

Lange went out, struggled then got his head right and dominated. The team came together.

When Poche struggled, he couldn't keep it together and it was contagious.

Also no reason to believe he's not a better fielder. Therefore, not throws over first.

Never promised a win, but it would have been a competitive game

If you assume Lange wins game 1 for LSU, than I'd say its just as logical to assume Poche loses game 2, and here we are again.

No we wouldn't be in the same spot because Lange would have two days rest by now and could pitch again that much quicker. Serious question, has a left handed batter ever hit his knuckle curveball?? I don't think many have and our coach didn't start our ace because of left handed batters!! Lmao

Does LSU score more runs with Lange on the mound instead? Who knows. But TCU's pitcher wouldn't have had the 6-1 lead to take some of the pressure off if Lange was starting. The pressure could have gotten to him. But whatever. Poche probably pitches well against CSF because they really don't swing it well.

I still say you start Lange game 1.

But I give CPM credit for shaking up the lineup, and to the boys for knuckling up and playing good baseball after that first inning. They could've easily folded and let this turn into a rout.

absolutely. Maybe we wouldn't have scored enough runs, but he is our best shot to win and 1-0 is clearly better than 0-1.
