-Why don’t we run any offensive sets? We run the same “offense” play after play. Drive to the basket, get stuffed, pass out, pass out, throw up a Hail Mary 3

-Cam has too much freedom. Yes he’s an asset, but a huge liability at the same time. It’s frustrating watch him shoot 47 foot 3 pointers without passing

-Defense was actually better when we were man to man, but we lack A LOT of fundamentals. We can’t even box out...lol

-We can’t rebound. Outside of Watford, no one seems to really care to rebound if he doesn’t grab it (simply because of his size)

-Our “bigs” (O’Neal & LeBlanc) foul more than anyone I’ve ever seen. And it’s terrible obvious fouls too

-Wade needs to start coaching (if he can) and stop relying on athleticism to carry his teams

Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday!

Listened on radio, so I couldn’t see the action. Why did the ball get in Leblanc’s hands at all during crunch time? How can you not let Thomas keep it and make them force him to the line when we have the lead? CT is a machine at the stripe.

I agree with everything except the part about Watford being the only one caring to rebound. Days is a superior rebounder to him, and I don't find Watford's effort on the boards to be anything but average.

It amazes me how bad LSU is at rebounding. They allowed SO many offensive rebounds, again. That is the difference every game we lose. I can criticize individuals, or team defense, which is usually bad, but was alright today... But none of those things would matter if LSU could simply box out. With the exception of the Alabama game, where LSU did everything wrong and never had a chance, LSU could have won every other game by just boxing out a couple of times more in those games.

Watford came up unbelievably small today. He fouled a bunch, he took a terrible technical that gave them a four point possession, right after Thomas had just made three free throws, which killed the momentum. He nearly threw the ball away when we had a four point lead with less than a minute to go. He threw up a totally unnecessary lob pass that Thomas barely saved. Then, he throws the ball away on the inbounds play with a 1 point lead, and follows that up with a pushoff on the other end on the rebound. He couldn't make shots, and was even 0-2 at the line.

I can't imagine how one could play worse. It's ok to have an off game. It's not cool to completely implode like that.

Jordy needs to take advantage of his new platform and have you sit down on the couch with Will Wade to go through each of your bullets. That would be must see TV. Coach would nicely make you feel like the size of an ant.

On the three the white kid made to cut it to 1, I think the rebound bounced on the open floor by itself 4-5 times while LSU players watched him go pick it up, back up to the line and let it fly.

Possibly two of our guys were already on a run out on the offensive end?

On second observation, we had all 5 on the defensive side of the court.

O’Neal did a beautiful job of boxing out Watford clearing out the rebound lane for TT.

Texas Tech showed that they were well-coached down the stretch. On the play you’re referencing, they sent a double team to cam, but made sure not to fowl him. That forced him to give the ball up, and it was only Leblanc who was open. TT bum rushed him and made sure to foul a poor FT shooter right away.

None of that undermines the fact that we still should have won the game obviously, but all the same, gotta give TT for playing the last minute of the game perfectly. Sometimes it’s not an option for your best FT shooter to hold the ball when the opponent has the right game plan to counter it.

That’s the 1 play where I think Days’ injury hurt the most. If he’s not injured, I suspect he’s in the game instead of Leblanc, and then I feel a lot better about him making the front end of that one and one

I would prefer that scenario be the one where Cam used his ball-hog skills properly. Learn to break the double team while getting fouled in the process.

That being said, I think Cam is 3/7 in the free throws I’ve actually seen him attempt but I hear he’s pretty good at them normally.

Not blocking out leads to so many second chance points. When every player is tall, long and athletic and no one blocks out, it’s an even chance who gets it. LSU’s fundamentals suck. I watched TT tip the ball around 4 times at the rim and it finally went in because LSU will not body up. Another instance, smart just turned around and didn’t seal off his man and he went right around him got the rebound and LeBlanc had to foul him. They are their own worst enemy and it starts with WW. He has to enforce discipline and fundamentals ( also become a better coach ) if he wants to be an elite team.

LSU has gone to 5 out spread the floor and ISO plays for Thomas and Watford.

Many teams do this

Use the three point shot to spread the floor and open driving lanes.

We do have off the ball picks for Thomas.

The days of weaves and cuts are long gone fromLSU and college basketball in general.

Athletes and shot clock and three point line have changed the game way past “pattern offenses”.

These little details you’ve stated are the difference in winning or losing close games, this is where WW falls short. The better prepared coach and team won.

Those teams had role players, guys who stayed 4 years and were fundamentally sound. Both teams slowed the game down and executed.
