Lol the NFL isn't dying . Ratings may down a bit but not dying .

It's not every week. I can remember only 2 or 3 real meltdowns in his career that hurt his team. Of course, the run in with Josh Norman last season, an unsportsmanlike or two for too much jawing, and trying to f up Kenny Vaccaro earlier this season with a dirty hit. That's all I can come up with. Dumb, but not a pattern.
I don't give a crap if he pouts a little on the sideline-- he generally does it while alone, and vets would just roll their eyes at that as long as he gets his head back in the game afterward. I don't recall him bitching to coaches or Manning on the sideline.
Media gives him a lot of attention because he's one of the hottest players in the league right now. And he's already pals with Jerry Rice-- they've spoken multiple times and hung out together at the Pro Bowl.

well, they put a stat on the screen Sunday that he'd be fined 8 separate times for a total of 180k. granted, i'm sure a few of those have been for him wearing the wrong shoes or violating some other stupid rule like that

Sure he's been mentored, just chooses to ignore. Hate to see it.

I have always been a fan of the ones who just toss the ball to the refs instead of the ones that want to celebrate.
Bobby Bowden, Fl State, is the root cause for all of this. As in a titration tube, it has just oozed on up the line.

I'm not saying people can't complain about it. Just makes them look like miserable, whiny bitches is all. Far more whiny and bitchy than they purport OBJ to be.
This is not the case. A comment does not make one a miserable whiny bitch. Maybe they just see character in a different light than you??

I agree he needs to grow up-- no argument. Maybe I am giving too much leeway, but his rep is a tiny bit overblown. 8 fines in 3 years is much, but NFL is looking to fine him now.
These fines bothered me less than the others, and I don't think they are meltdowns.
one for taking his helmet off on the field.
One for begin part of a "team brawl".
One for a bs celebration penalty.
One for jawing after getting hit out of bounds in Minnesota.
One for the punch against Duke Williams in Buffalo-- this one is borderline-- he was getting mugged all game, but he should have kept his cool.
I know. Excuses, excuses.

Celebrating in a way not to your liking doesn't equate to a character issue. Sorry. But continue with the faux outrage.

Oh so true, but that was mucho later than Bowden's start of this BS. He promoted it from the get go at FSU to shine the spotlight on his "team members". What a shitshow it was back at that time.

I posted this in another thread on this topic and people mistakenly assumed I was trying to be funny.
It's indisputable that elite athletes have higher-than-average testosterone levels. That's part of the reason they are elite athletes. That's why their muscles develop more thrength than yours or mine would with the same exact workout regimen. To be clear, I am NOT suggesting I have the same workout regimen as an NFL player, just that if hypothetically he and I did the exact same workout, he'd get better results from it, in part because of high testosterone levels.
This becomes relevant to the discussion because when testosterone levels reach a certain threshold, the body converts the excess testosterone into estrone (similar to estrogen).
IMO, it's entirely possible OBJ is acting like a diva because his estrone levels are too high. If I were advising him, I'd put him on DIM supplements (a natural substance that is commonly prescribed as an OTC supplement for the purpose of reducing estrone levels).
FWIW, this (high testosterone leading to high estrone levels) is the reason so many pro athletes develop prostate cancer later in life.
Don't take my word for it though. Talk to that doctor Moscona is always advertising. I guarantee he'll confirm every word of this.
No way of knowing if this is the case with OBJ, but it would seem to explain the diva-esque behavior. Especially considering that it's a safe assumption that he has naturally high testosterone, which is pretty much a prerequisite for being an elite NFL receiver.

Jerry Rice or Calvin Johnson. Two superstars who never let it get to their head on the field. These two were as competitive as anyone on the planet. But they still took everyone's best shots and just got up and went to huddle. Sending the message that they will make plays on you all day long.

And TO and Randy Moss were the exact opposite and also made plays all day long. No one is saying you have to be manic and outrageous to be great. You also don't have to be uber professional and vanilla to be great.
Have no idea why so many people are judging Odell's character bc of how he chooses to play a game. A game he's one of the best at in the world. "Oh my god he hurts his team!?!?" Ya'll aren't even Giants fans. Just enjoy the entertainment

You have no idea if this is true. Just because a player lets his emotions get the best of him does not mean he doesnt care about his team.

I agree on all of the fighting stuff.
