SIAP

I haven't seen anything about it yet so assuming it did not happen yesterday. Would he miss the game if it happens today?

quote:

Beckham and his girlfriend, Lauren Wood, are expecting any day now.

The former Giants first-round pick did not want to dwell on what decisions he would have to make if the baby and the game coincide.

“I don’t need you to put that energy in the air about the Saturday night or the Sunday thing,’’ Beckham said. “I think God has a different plan. I don’t need it during the Super Bowl. I want to see my child being born, so I’m on watch.”

Good on him. A lot of people would at the very least have to think long and hard about that decision and he knows what is most important.

At least he’s playing the SB at home, so threoretcially if the birth happens around game time he could be there for the birth right up until the game starts, or right after the final horn… i would use a few of his big bucks to have a chopper on standby.. in almost any other scenario, any other year, his GF would be giving birth in a different city .

Is that all that’s going to be discussed and related to?

I haven't been making any bets on OBJ TD or rec yds just in case.

Will respectfully have to disagree . Regular season game yes. Super Bowl, no. His wife would have to have some understanding of what this would mean to his career and to the team in general.

Burrow with the long game, impregnating OBJ’s girlfriend at the right time so he misses the Super Bowl. Nobody prepares like Joe Burrow prepares!

Yep. Think about it...if your wife or SO were about to give birth and you're at work...you leave work and head to the hospital.

Same for him...it's his job and why wouldn't he leave work to see his child born?

You can’t be serious. You don’t understand the difference between a regular day at the plant or office and the damn Super Bowl? There was no way I was missing the birth of my kids, but I wasn’t playing in the Super Bowl either. I’d probably miss a non-Game 7 World Series game for the birth of a child, but not the Super Bowl.

1) If the girlfriend has ANY love for him whatsoever, she should let him off the hook and demand he play in the game. Take that decision—and guilt—completely away from him.

2) The damn kid would feel guilty his whole life that his/her dad missed the Super Bowl to be at their birth. Part of them would obviously feel good, but I think the guilt would weigh heavier

3) Why is this still a thing? I was able to pretty much pick the day my kids were born up to like a 7-10 day window. And that was 13 years ago.

I always love when people try to compare being in the NFL to a regular desk job. No way he should miss the Super Bowl for that
