I think Ranaudo and Coleman would have dominated even more against today's bats. It would be exciting to see what Katz, Bregman, Jones would do with the previous bats.
Overall I have to give the edge to '09...

People forget when early on in the season the 09 tigers were just kind of winning series on talent alone and not hitting the ball all that well. People were getting frustrated around these parts. They ended up winning the SEC at 20-10 but they really started heating up around SEC tournament time and they didn't look back. That was as dominating a postseason as you'll ever see.

We have over 7 300+ hitters in our line up this year. That's pretty scary.

Damn. We all agree on 09. Is this good

The '09 season wasn't the best piece of work. But that team was completely different the last 30 games of the season. I would take them during that stretch against any one of the other LSU teams.

Absolutely. They were incredibly talented and it all came together.

13 is deeper, IMO. This would be especially true if Reynolds weren't hurt, giving us another solid arm. Still, it's hard to argue a team that just went 52-9 isn't "dominant." I don't think of us a dominate team, but more of a scrappy group of guys who find ways to win.
09 had more talent at the top. Coleman, Renaudo, JMitch, Lema...., Schimpf, Dean, Mahtook and a young Matty Ott. If Moore had returned, I'd call that the sickest lineup we had since the post-Bertman era. Still prob was.
13 also plays a bit better together. But all that matters is what we do if and when we get to Omaha.

obviously harder to compare due to bats
but 09's offense makes up any difference or edge that someone could give to 13 in terms of pitching and defense
those guys could bash and we put major pressure on teams when we got on base

You weren't around for the '91 or 'the '93 Teams were you? Must not have been, those 2 clubs had more MLB Players that played for a long time in the Majors. Then you add the other College talent that was there through out the Roster. Those 2 Clubs was more talented than any Clubs LSU has ever had at one time. '09 was great but, give this Team the bats they had back in the '90's and even in '09 this team would rattle any team weeks in advance of Playing them. That is how good this team is this year and add in the Pitching Depth this Club has there is no telling what they may end up doing. Sunday may have woke this entire Club up and if they all Play at their A Game level nobody will come close to beating them.

'93 was the first year I could pay attention and understand enough about the game. Todd Walker is my favorite player. It's not a knock on those teams, and I'm not comparing where the players ended up. No doubt we had more talent in '93 and even '97, but I'm just looking at those last 30 games. It was unreal. They would not lose.

I say if this team gets healthy and jacoby/laird get back in the lineup. Glenn continues to improve and eades gets his shite together and plays just a tad better, nobody stops this club.
Piss on Vanderbilt.

Give Katz, Bregman, Rhymes and Ibarra those 09 bats and it would be scary

T he team with Larson on it flat out raped people in the postseason.
Posted on 5/27/13 at 10:26 pm to BOSCEAUX
More people seem to refer to it as the Larson team instead of the '97 team.
ETA: They were even more stacked in '98. Should have been a 3-peat.

This is absolutely the best Defensive Team I have ever seen at LSU and to say that from what I posted above is saying a lot. Jones went out Stevenson and Laird comes in. Katz has played all over the Field and that goes for Jones and that Kid out in Right field Jared Foster, man, what an arm!
This Pitching staff has as many arms that can it just might develop into one heck of a staff next year, just saying what we have to look forward to. '09 spoiled us and now after this team, no use getting spoiled they will draw in Talent every year to add to what is there. This is on the verge of a dynasty if it all plays out the way it is going.
Kids want to go to College instead of on the road in A-League or AA-League plus the Education. I just hope the NCAA gives another 12 Scholarships and I know LSU will be on top to stay.

Tough to argue about the defense of this team. But that was on purpose. Laird, Stevenson, even Ibarra (his hitting has been a bonus) would not be on those 90s teams. PM has recruited well as the game evolved.
