May be tougher to replace than you realize.

Or if the interim coach might actually win more games than he loses.

We should have picked a worse coach right?

So that's the standard with a team of NFL draft picks numbering the teens? Win more than you lose?

right. Just explain to the seniors and the rest of the team that you're picking the most inept coach on the staff for the greater good of maybe being better 5 years from now.

Just know that if they refuse to be called "interim", that's a major red flag.

You do not seem familiar with how interim coaches typically fair.

It's ridiculous

I wish they had chosen someone else to avoid this

We still win the games we won regardless of interim

Yes, the best course of action after firing your head coach at the beginning of the season is to hire the LEAST qualified person on staff, who the fans and players can all HATE without exception and then root for them to LOSE as many games as possible.

Clearly, that would have been the better way to go for LSU.

Do Les Miles and Coach Cam beat Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Texas A&M this year. After what you saw the first four games? Just anybody was going to swoop in and pull the team together to finish the season? Give me a break.

Minimizing what Coach O has done is fricking stupid at this point. If you'd rather hire a different coach, that's fine. There are better candidates. But the shite talking of O given what he has done for the program is fricking stupid. You guys need to find room in your tiny arse brains for 1) respect for what O has done and 2) your coaching preference going forward.

Every interim coach knows that they are interviewing for the HC job while serving as interim. Every interim is going to do everything in their power to earn that job. That means winning games, saying the right things, getting the local media to like you, and winning the trust and respect of the team and former players.

Are you mad that Coach O did all of these things?

Do you just wish he'd lost more games so that he wouldn't be considered so seriously?

The guy has, for the most part, done all of the things LSU fans wanted when Miles was gone. He's been more open and seemingly honest with the media, he allowed the offense to start passing to TE's among other changes resulting in considerably improved yards and points per game stats since the coaching change, he showed energy and enthusiasm on the sidelines, he made major in-roads with recruits and former players, and he won the immediate respect of the players on the team.

He is not my number 1 choice because he couldn't beat Florida and Alabama, but if we strike out on my top two preferred candidates, I can't say that Orgeron isn't possibly my 3rd or 4th choice. If Orgeron is retained and paired with an accomplished OC not named Lane Kiffen, a solid D-line coach, and an outstanding special teams coach while retaining Aranda and Ensminger, I'm going to go ahead and call this a win, especially if Orgeron gets hired with a lower salary which allows the program to pump those savings into better coordinators, concourse improvements, and/or reductions in areas that are pay to park.

There is a direct correlation with coaches replacing another having a positive impact. Then after awhile they start to level off...
It has been proven across multiple sports several times over.

Possibly. We'll never know. After watching this team vs Florida, we have no idea if O would have been Wisconsin or Auburn.

It's both easy to discredit what O has done and exaggerate his effectiveness.

Coach O has performed brilliantly in most peoples eyes.

The players each game have been fresh and have played with emotion.

Better time management

Better defense

Better offense

The Florida loss was more execution by players than poor coaching.

Yes I would prefer a more productive offense as would every LSU fan and we are not stupid only thankful for a very good job by coach O.

This LSU team since coach O has taken over is a very good football team and you sir "The Godfather" are a thankless fan.

With this said if I could cherry pick a new coach it would be Herman and if I could not get Herman I would take coach O with a new offensive coordinator over Jimbo any day

You should be thankful for the good job coach O has done

Thank you very much coach O

Those weren't gimme games like some suggest. That was my point. Tired of people minimizing O's record as an argument for their preferred candidate. He doesn't deserve to be shite on for winning.

Florida was the worst team we've lost to this year, so I don't see why not. We've never had a problem with A&M, Vanderbilt blew out that Ole Miss team, and Arkansas is losing to a 3 win Mizzou team. Orgeron will never be an elite HC. He may have successful teams with the right coordinators if he just recruits and stays out of the way, but I'll never understand wanting a HC whose only contribution is recruiting.
