He's another good guy but everyone thought his offenses were shite while he was here now all of a sudden he's a genius. He had the number one recruit in the draft and like another 10 guys that went pro and play. Miami sucks and Florida was in the tank while recruiting those players. He's an upgrade from Miles no doubt but I just think we need a young college coach or even an NFL coordinator. Bash away.

How is he another good guy?

He will do what it takes to win. He won't kick Ryan Perrilloux off the team

And no the young up and comers tend to fail WAYYY more than succeed. Get a proven guy.

That's a good point. It's a risk no doubt. I just felt bubble screened to death with Jimbo.

Agreed. If we keep saying we need a QB to win, what better QB coach is there? What better offensive philosophy is there? This seems like the perfect person to get in here. Bring him in and let him put together his staff. Sure, we would love to keep Wilson and O, but the key is a fresh face and one with name recognition which will allow recruits to stay excited about coming here.

If we were able to pull a big time NFL coordinator would you not want?

Jimbo would do fine here. The risk I see is he's only won with generational talent, most notably with Winston, and he has some bad losses recently that would not sit well with LSU fans. The first risk is mitigated if we can get those same types of guys, but I don't know how often a Winston comes along and if we can land thar guy consistently.

That's kinda my point. He needs that guy. We need someone who doesn't need that guy but has a system. Hate to say it but like Saban. I mean he wins with average QB's. We need someone who can win big with a game manager at QB. Obviously guys like Chip Kelly have that kind of "system" we might need. Not necessarily that type of offense but something other than we're just going to line up and run right at you and my guy is better than your guy mentality. Sometimes you're guy isn't better and you need to be able to adapt and rely on something or someone else.

No worries. He's not coming. No telling who we'll end up with, but get ready for a year or so of waiting and I wouldn't be looking for an NC any time soon.

As an OC he did pretty well with Rohan and Mauck who aren't generational talents. Sputtered with Randall but probably any coach would've. He made EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder into NFL players. Without Jimbo, Samantha ponder is probably still Steele.

Are people against Jimbo bc they favor someone with similar success like Miles pre-LSU? BC these are the same people against the likes of fedora and gundy, etc. aren't they?

Fedora/gundy/etc = pre-LSU Miles

I don't disagree with this, but if you take the same approach with Miles, you are roasted on here (I.e. he "turned guys into NFL players" as opposed to "he couldn't win with NFL talent.")

I understand he won a NC. So has Miles. What's your point? He's in a weak conference. That certainly helped. And Auburn blew that game.

Yeah but I don't take that approach. Give credit where it's due. It's simply that miles struggles with QBs. It's his biggest problem that's haunted him.

Everyone hated him as the LSU OC. Now they're begging to have him come back.

I love this board.

Too true. I just wonder what struggle would replace the QB issue with him. Maybe nothing. He's had so-so defenses most of the time. He just seems to "Les Miles" against a bad team on occasion. And he's been blown out a couple times as well.

It's always hard to predict, because the situations would never be the same. I wouldn't be at all upset with hiring Jimbo, which is the bottom line.
