re: "not a plan to get Myles in the game. It's a plan to get the second string qb some reps."

I assume the two scenarios are:

1) we're blowing them out; or
2) Etling is smelling it up.

Exactly! Everybody is looking into this quote ENTIRELY too much. LSU hopes to be able to get Brennan in because they are blowing out BYU. The other scenario is Etling is playing poorly.

Man. Has trying to decipher Miles for 12 years caused you to disregard the plain meaning of words?

He is saying that there is no plan to put Myles Brennan in with the first team (or while the game's outcome is in doubt). His plan is to play the second team if the opportunity presents itself. The two scenarios are (1) winning big or (2) losing big.

He means that it's about the process and not getting a specific player work

This. Any other interpretation is just reading way too much into it.

What does it all mean?

Not naming 2nd string QB yet?
Or 2nd string qb =/= Myles Brennan?

I interpret it as "we are doing it because it's Myles Brennan. If our backup QB were Ratphuc Hobley we'd try and get him reps if we can."

Brennan is a classic pocket passer with a little athleticism, just like Etling. By not singling out Brennan, he forces BYU to game plan for the possibility of facing a true dual threat QB like Narcisse or McMillan.

God I hope not!! Flashbacks to JJ/JL years. Everyone knew what was coming when either QB was in.

The change of pace worked pretty well when we put Ryan Perriloux in throughout 2007. If you have a solid starting QB who isn’t looking over his shoulder and is performing well, then there’s no controversy. Hopefully Etling has that kind of year.

Etling needs most the reps coming off if surgery with changes in mechanics. If etling lights it up then yea get some reps in for the backup otherwise etling needs about all of em vs byu and the home opener to prepare for a tough road game at cowbell U.

Orgeron makes less sense than Miles sometimes, which I thought would be really hard to do
Nonsense. Miles would straight up lie about who would play. When he wasn't lying it was straight up gibberish about "want" and nonsense.
