No reason OL should be struggling this far along

I have to admit, while most were elated that the OL was returning from last year, I was not one. I didn't understand why so many were excited about an OL returning that didn't play very well at all. I understand that experience is important, but so is talent and chemistry. It's clear the talent level is not where it needs to be to compete regularly for an SEC/NC and neither is the chemistry. I was hoping a new OL coach would help - and he may in the long run - but a veteran OL should not be struggling this much with the amount of playing time they have had together. I'm ready to see some new faces give it a try and see if they can do any better. Something has to change!

Outside of QB, Oline is the biggest weakness on this team

Or, just stick with me........they just aren't that good (Ingram aside)
Wire, Hines, Shanahan and Deculus are not sniffing the field at their current skill level (as starters) if they play for TAMU, UGA or Bama

To say an OL that has a brand new position coach (that is changing the level of detail they pay attention to) should be well polished a week into camp is laughable.
But I do admit that the OL improving isn’t a given.

I’m right there with you. I do not trust this o line. I get that it’s supposed to be a veteran online but they have never managed to stay consistent. 2018 they suck, 2019 they block well, 2020 they suck so let’s hope they block well this year.

Or is our defensive personnel that good?

Yikes, what a bad take.
New OL coach changing entire culture
First scrimmage of camp
Starting LT recently departed
It’s gonna take them a beat to get in sync. Patience.

I love the rant. 3 weeks ago Max was the man and was SOoOoO much better than Myles. Fast forward to today and he’s a weakness…

But at least there is a ton of experience….not sure who the replacements would be if they didn’t come back.

Its definitely a major concern. And anyone thinking this team will go as the OL goes would have to be given the benefit of doubt.
But experience does count and it was the very 1st scrimmage, so lets remain hopeful is my mindset rn.

Lighten up, Francis. New OC, new line coach, 1st scrimmage. That is all.

It's the exact same unit as last year minus Rosenthal. They should be in sync and we should have quality back ups finally ready to takeover if someone is struggling.

I agree with this

Which is why Cregg is gone. That dude owes Joe Burrow several hundred thousand dollars for extending his LSU career.
It will take 2-3 years to build up the depth on the OL like we have on the DLine.
Getting guys like Campbell and Jones, with guys like Bordelon and West as longer term projects, is a good start.

This is not our best OL, but give them a lil time. It doesn't matter that played together last year, this is the first week of camp and there are alot of factors that goes into becoming a good line. They will come together and become a solid if not great line as the season goes along.
Plus we have the best D-line in college football.

Well if you follow recruiting and our depth chart, had we not returned all those players we would need walk ons for the 2 deep. We are paper thin there with the guys returning. Also our dline might be the best in the SEC or possibly nation.

Or is QB a weakness because we only have one other scholarship QB on the roster?
