No matter who's QB for this team; they will fail.

JJ, JL or whoever is under center is destined to fail on this offense. Crowton's offense is different than it was a before JJ/JL. There used to be a commitment to run on early downs. With Hester and Scott it was run to set up the pass. Now it's pass to set up the run. Unless you have an elite QB, which we don't, this offense will never work.

Too many pass attempts on 1st and 10 which leads to 2nd and long and a predictable situation; therefore many 3 and outs.

The multiple set offense does not lend to establishing a rhythm. Example: Alfred Blue out of the I formation runs 6 yards for a first down. Next play (Blue substituted) 1st and 10 in the shotgun then pass incomplete. Stay with the hot hand.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Nothing has changed the last couple of years as far as the offensive philosophy. Until there is a change, things will be the same no matter if its JJ or JL.

Thanks for that revealing post. It provides ground breaking information. I am aghast that no one has thought of this before. It seems like a simple concept and yet you were the first to discover it. Kudos on that.

Well, shite... I guess I'll burn my season tickets now. No sense going to any of the games since they're just gonna lose.

Thanks for the warning.

What if LES and Crowton design an offense that has no QB?

Your welcome. That's what I am here for. My friends call me "the voice of reason". In Mexico they call me "la voz de razón".

I'm just saying; don't expect anything to be different if JL is put in.

Obviously this post is not for you but for the other people who want JL and think he's the savior.

your first two paragraphs contradict your 3rd paragraph. i reallly haven't seen us use the pass to set up the run this year. last year? hell, who could blame us with that running game and that's not even relevant this year. what i agree with you 100% on is that when we are successful on first down and face a second and 3 or 4 or 2, we shut ourselves in the foot damn near every time, usually with getting cute or running the "guaranteed to fail" lsu option that really isn't an option at all. that's when we need to line up in the damn I and pound the hell out the los or run a play action and hit one of our 5 star receivers. we go from 2nd and short to 3rd and long more than any team i've seen (well, maybe except vandy)

I should have specified that the Blue run was a 3rd and 2 which led to a 1st and 10.

The only two solutions I can think of here are:

1. Never throw on first down.
2. Have a QB who can somehow put the ball somewhere between the receivers thigh and helmet (at least) on first down.

I don't believe JL is the savior. Just want to see if he improved over the year. Maybe he would do worse than JJ, but we won't know until he gets significant playing time.

8 guys crowding the box is what is doing in our offense. We can run into normal defenses, but we just can't pass into a normal secondary. If defenses have to stay honest against us, we can crush anyone.

perception or reality??

vs. UNC on 1st down:
14 rush plays v. 9 pass plays (7 completions, 2 incompletions)

vs. Vandy on 1st down:
24 rush plays v. 6 pass plays (1 completion, 4 incompletions, 1 sack)

total on 1st down:

38 rush plays v. 15 pass plays (8 comp., 6 inc., 1 sack)

I assume since you know so much that you COACH for a living and are paid three million dollars a year with a three year contract...and every school in the nation wants you to be their coach...
