For one, I'll be happy with which ever one leads us to the NC!

How many of you guys have seriously been to practice? Even the media is only allowed in for brief periods of time. Nearly all of the information on here is coming from Les Miles or the SID.
What it seems to be is that JJ is having a spectacular spring and that Lee is playing really well too. Mettenberger is supposedly behind the other two in getting up to speed but has shown signs of greatness. Now, if all of that is true, that's fantastic. But the only thing we know for sure is that the first two sentences in the paragraph are what Les Miles wants everyone to believe.
My guess is that there is some truth to it but Les is using this to motivate each of his QBs. Is it not entirely plausible after watching JJ for 3 years to believe that JJ responds to praise and recoils at criticism? Hence the effusive praise. Is it not plausible after watching Lee for 3 years to believe that Lee performs best when he believes he has a legitimate shot at surpasses JJ if he continues to improve? Hence encouragement by Miles and a little bit of treating JJ like a bone for Lee to chase. And while we know Mett less, is it not plausible that Miles wants to send the young phenom a message that the starting QB job is not something that he will be given but will be earned? Hence the "reality check" type comments.
I am one of those who, having watched three years of horror at the QB position, hopes that Mettenberger comes in and wins the job. But, despite my criticism of JJ, he is a physical freak and he does have experience. So if these reports are accurate and if JJ is OUTPLAYING Mettenberger than I absolutely want JJ to start v. Oregon. Most folks who are critical of JJ don't have anything personal against him. We criticize his poor play. If he fixes that problem and starts playing well, we'll all get behind him. Hell, I hope the kid is so damn good he wins the Heisman.

This cannot be repeated enough. Unbelievably there are many people on this board who will still call you a hater.
Lacking faith and hating are two separate things. Until the QB position at LSU performs at a high level for 2-3 games there will be doubters.

there are a few who will bash you if you critique any player who happens to be their favorite. But there are also fans who berate players with no objective reasoning behind it, or drone on with crap they've heard or read without bothering to verify the info. They will continue to be called out. For example, I won't hesitate to call anyone an idiot who proclaims "yea, big deal, JJ does great every spring".

Because he doesn't. He did look good last fall however according to most folks. I don't care what someone looks like in practice, proof is on the field during valid competition.
If JJ can put a few games together with solid play the doubters will be converted.
