It will be easier than this year if certain teams lose the key players they might.

It will be very tough to go 10-2 or better. I am expecting (and bracing myself) a 9-3 season.

Washington - W
Vanderbilt - W
ULL - W
Moo State - W
Georgia - between this game and Florida i say we lose at least one, possibly both. The rest seem very easily winnable if we do what we're supposed to. if we play like we did this year, we could see a 4 loss season. if we play like we did last night...a 1 loss season.
Florida - ^^^
Auburn - W
Tulame - W
Alabama - W
La Tech - W
Ole Miss - W
Arkansas - W

If stafford and knowshaun turn pro it would help.

Tebow is saying he may turn.

The 1 thing I am worried about is a loss to Mississippi State, we're so due for one to them

Ole Miss finally nipped us this year...although we once again got by South Carolina. I think we're like 16-2 against them now. Wow.

It's a wonder that teams ever improve, what with losing their QB's.

FWIW, I don't think our passing stats change all that much. It sucked this year, and it'll suck next year. McElroy just needs to protect the ball.

Bama is losing Wilson, but we lost Russell after a Sugar Bowl win and went on to win the national championship with a QB with 1 career start. Flynn was a fifth year senior, but my point is that you don't need great QB play to win a title. Bama will be better next year IMHO, and thats me be subjective as possible.

Actually, I'm more concerned losing Caldwell and Smith than JP (yes Smith is going pro). In our offense we dont ask the QB to do much. Remember when we asked him to? What were our records? 6-6 both years with some bad losses in there. If u can hit some 5 yd hitch routes then you're good to go. JPW had good reads and bad ones. Twice against UF if he had looked left on the screen Ingram has 40 and 50 yd TD's. Ingram was left jumping up and down both times very frustrated. JP never looked anywhere but right and UF never even thought of covering the left side bacause they knew JP didnt read D very well. We wont drop much there. Theo ne thing he didnt do this year too much was the turnovers but thats it. Stat wise he didnt account for much. The word here is we won 12 games in spite of having JPW, not because of him.

Almost everyone is extremely confident, picking 1 loss seasons and all, but some of these teams are going to be better than people think. Let's just look at the three big ones:

UGA - They may lose Stafford and Moreno, they may lose one, they may lose none. Either way, UGA will be a very good team next year. They've thrown basically three different teams at us the last three matchups (04, 05, 08) and have killed us every single time. I do not know whether or not they're losing their two big guns, but their backups aren't bums or anything. Joe Cox went to high school with Massoqoui and is, I believe, a JR. He's a pretty efficient QB from what I've seen. Caleb King is a very nice RB as well. He did a good job this year when he had opportunities. Just saying, UGA has our number, and they're returning a pretty good squad.

UF - If Tebow comes back, they'll be better next year. If that happens, I hate to say it but, a miracle would need to occur for us to beat them. They return the entire D minus Brandon Spikes I believe, as well as the bulk of their offense. If Tebow leaves, you'll have John Brantley, followed by Cam Newton, both VERY capable recruits.

Bama - There's a big myth going around right now that they'll struggle because of their QB. JPW, their 4 year starter, had 9 TDs this year. Bama does not throw the ball much at all, nor will they next year. They'll return Coffee, Ingram, and bring in Richardson at RB behind 3 returning Olinemen (same amount as LSU). All McElroy, who is a JR, needs to do is not frick up. Their defense will be one of the best in the country next year as well, and it's in T-town.

Now I'm saying we're definitely losing all these games, but we don't look better than any of these teams RIGHT NOW personnel wise. We don't know how Chavis will do. We don't know how the QB situation will shake out, despite people crowning JJ after 2 1/2 games. We lose our FB, two linemen, a starting WR, entire Dline, a starting LB, and both K/P. We have a lot of questions next year guys. Not being a negatiger, just being a realist. Don't be disappointed with 3 losses.

Heck, let's just give him the day off against Utah. This thing just drives itself.

Very realistic that we lose at least 3 games: UF, Ole Miss, and Bama - new QB won't change their offense at all. UGA also

Then lost him and had to go with backups with zero career starts and . . .

Losing an experienced starting QB is always a problem. Obviously it is not always insurmountable, but very, very rarely does a 10+ win team lose a Senior 3 year starter at QB and go, "thank goodness HE'S gone!"

Next year I believe the season really will come down to the Georgia/Florida games. If we win both of those, I'd put even money on us in the National Championship Game. Lose either, and we're a long shot. Lose both, and we may end up 9-4.

My way, way early prediction is beat Georgia, lose to Florida, win the rematch in Atlanta to go to the National Championship Game.

Unless Tebow leaves, then we go undefeated!

You don't really base performance on one year to forecast future ones.

No more than Georgia and Bama.

Bama loses more than just Wilson, and an experienced SR QB contributes more than just TD passes. Jefferson threw just one TD last night; do you think that was all the difference between his performance and the way Lee performed most of the year?

Georgia loses Moreno and Stafford, plus 3 starters on their DL, and Massaquoi and their fullback.

On the other hand, we lose much more that is promising (Peveto and Mallory).

There are no guarantees, of course. But there's no need to anticipate doom, either. In fact, there are absolutely no advantages to it, since it won't help anything anyway. I know you think lowered expectations will ease the blow of a less successful season, but it doesn't work that way. Worse, if the expectations are lowered beforehand, then there will be a backlash all off-season to that perceived "failure" that will simply give many a bitter taste to start the season and lead them to focus on any perceived negative, diminishing whatever success we do end up having.

Think of it this way: had the LSU nation been convinced all off-season that we were going to be an 8-5 team this year, do you really think that whatever small reduction in disappointment felt during the season would actually outway the outrage and disappointment that would have festered all 8 months of the off-season?
