LSU lost their best interior D lineman (Nevis), both Corners (Peterson and Eugene), and their top LB (Sheppard) after the 2010 season and it all worked out.

Not too concerned.

Very good point, but Claiborne started every game in 2010.

Priest Willis will be huge. He's a PP type athlete.

I actually think we will be better next year.

My reasoning:
1) DTs: Ferguson and Johnson will be more experienced. Most of the time (Brockers being an exception), it takes awhile for DTs to become truly disruptive in the SEC (e.g. Dorsey, Nevis). I think either Ego or Freak get there in 2013, maybe both. Obviously, Logan coming back would make the rotation even better.

I like the backups too: Mickey Johnson and Quentin Thomas

2) LBs: First off, we got Chavis. Even if we lose Minter, we have Alexander, Barrow, T. Jones, D. Jones, and Louis. This group has worlds of potential. If Minter stays, scary good. (Barrow/Minter/Alexander ).

3) CBs: Collins and Mills got great on-the-job training this year. I expect them to be better next year. It looks like Simon may return, which would be a bonus.

4) Safety: Loston will be back head-hunting (as long as he stays healthy) and providing leadership. Corey Thompson and Ronald Martin will battle for the other spot, imo. Sandolph is the dark horse here.

*Having experience at every level of the defense would be nice: Logan, Minter, Simon, and Loston. I hoping for 3 out of 4.

In sum, we should get more pressure from the interior lineman next year, and better coverage down field. We will have a weaker pass rush from the DEs, but I think we will be better against the run with Hunter and Rasco. The formula will be a little different than 2012, but, imo, the results will just as good or better.

Yes, it would! Major Boom, if it happens. Would solidify this class as a top 3 class IMO.

Our personnel does not concern me.

The only thing that concerns me next year is
at Alabama and at Georgia. At Ole Miss and at State will be no slouches either.
Florida, Auburn, Arkansas and A&M are all at home, and hopefully 2 or 3 of them will be at night.

While I will admit the numbers are scary, we had the same issue in 2010. We lost PP7, Kelvin Shep and Nevis and the 2011 defense was better. A few guys stepped up at the end of 2010 like Reid, Simon, etc. I am hoping if all of the below leave, guys will step up.

Mingo-Hunter
Sam-Rasco
Logan-Freak
Minter-?
Reid-Martin
Simon-Collins/Mills

Next doesn't worry me a bit on D

CBs will be solid, with Mills and Collins out there (assuming Simon leaves, which I doubt he will)

LBs will be studs

DEs will be revamped, obviously you can't replace Mingo and Sam, but I think we can reload.

DTs will still be there, I don't think Logan is going pro.

We should be fine...

And there's a reason teams threw at him more--because Simon is better.

....or because they knew he was a freshman?

Every single year people wonder how X will ever fill the spot of Y who went pro.

And every year, X steps up and does very well.

LSU just reloads.

Mills is easily our best cover corner. This is an exaggeration. He got beat just as often as Simon.

Simon reminded me of former Saints corner back, Johnny Poe! Constantly running down a receiver that had beat him.

Mills was a FAR better corner than Simon!

Probably at least one of those guys will stay

Also, we have our best cover corner for two more years.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Maclin and Allen. I think Maclin could be another Lavar Edwards. Allen, I'm afraid, is a career benchwarme

I have heard the opposite about Maclin and Allen.
