Mike Brey of Notre Dame. Experienced winner with almost 500 wins with ties to Louisiana having played at Northwestern State.

I just heard that Les Miles will be the new basketball coach next year. he has learned from past mistakes and will be more open to ideas from assistant coaches and players

Rick Stansbury or Eruc Musselman. Kermit Davis is a Brady assistant and the one power 5 job he's had he won like 2 games the entire season. The other guy who keeps getting mentioned is the guy at Rice who's won in the NAIA which us basically high school and has been good not great at Rice. We can't afford to risk hiring a mid major who's been decent. If we are gonna go that route it would have to be a guy who's won a lot for a good amount of time with NCAA tourney success and there just Arnt any out there who would come to LSU. We need a proven winner at this level to right the ship and get us contending in the SEC first. Then we can look to snag a bigger name or a can't miss up and comer. We are not in a position to take a big risk we need to get a guy who can advance the program to a point first.

Winning at Rice is next to impossible. How do you recruit basketball talent to a school with high academic standards, small enrollement of mainly academic inclined individuals (asians), and a historically apathetic athletic department. The fact he won any games there is a good, the fact that people have to take Rice basketball serious is great.

If we hire Rick Stansbury I'll continue my boycott of going to games. Please no

I would be less than excited as well Elleshoe. I have a list of at least 15 folks I'd like to make tell us no before we even begin considering Rick.

If we hire Stansbury we should bring back Brady and Mark Gottfried and we can have the three peas from the same pod as I used to call them.

Also, I figured Stans had a good record at WKU with all the talk he's been getting... but you're telling me we want to hire a guy who went sub .500 in CUSA, one with mediocre results at State and never made it past the first weekend, one who basically couldn't keep his house in order when he got a huge recruit in Sydney. This is the guy people want?

To be honest only Madking seems to be passionately advocating for Stansbury. I see know significant groundswell of support for him otherwise.

But he is passionate and we all have our favorites for our own reasons.

My biggest hope is that a legitimate effort is made in this search, and if in the end we settle we'll at least have made a lot of good coaches say no.
