You've arguably got the best defensive coordinator in the country.
Considering what we did last season with Ensminger, you've got to be optimistic with what LSU can potentially do with Canada.
Point being, Orgeron will be the head coach for more than two years...

JA knows very little about negotiating contracts. It should have been 6, 3, 1 at best
Contract negotiation should be taken completely out of his hands

This is what the going rate is these days. Teams sign 4-5 year deal with new coaches with high buyouts. You cant just undercut the whole market because you didnt get choice #1 or choice #2. We paid a lot less for Orgeron than we would have Jimbo or Herman, but it's not like we wer eonly going to pay him $2M a year which would put the value on the LSU job itself very low.
The only way Orgeron loses this job after 2 years is if we miss a bowl game or there's a scandal. He gets 3 years minimum.

to be honest, unless he loses 6 games next year, he should be granted three years at a minimum. Thus, it is a non-issue.
A lot of work to do on this roster and team.
It would be crazy to give any coach less than three years to see what he can do.

Completely agree, and at this point barring major injuries this isnt happening.

It's really not bad. He's getting at least 2 years and then it's 4.5 and 1 million the next year. LSU can pay that.

What? We have a roster full of talent, a senior qb that is decent, the best DC in the country and a very good OC. The cupboard was not left bare. He is not rebuilding. This team is in win now mode.

I see that as absurdly high.

It's really not, a lot of buyouts these days are the ENTIRE remaining contract. Each of these amounts are less than that, and we already saved a lot of money going with a cheaper hire.

He doesnt have a lot of work to do with the roster itself but we're not firing a coach after 1 season, that's crazy.

LULZ it just gets worse and worse. His buyout should be $0.00

Exactly. Do you really expect him to tank in his first year?

LSU can pay that
They also could have paid for a qualified head coach, but didn't.

I can see your point. And for some other posters, he will not fail and be fired in the near future.

Jesus Christ. I'm finding harder and harder to care about LSU sports with Alleva running the show. What a fuching joke. No way he should every have a buyout about 3. He's lucky to even have been considered for this job.
