As do I. New coach will be expected to do a lot more than 8 games.

No. Whoever it is will come in knowing that the first time he loses to Bama he's fired!

Expectations come with any job.

But "keys to Ferrari" we are working on 8 losses over 12 months.

Nearly zero depth at LB and DL.

And a 1970's O.

I want Jimbo or whomever to come in and succeed but I recognize the holes that Les is leaving (if he is leaving).

This isn't Nick leaving the cupboard over stocked. If Beckwith goes pro we have no exp at LB coming back.

The DL is maybe 5 deep.

If Pocic goes pro. 3 new starters on OL.

This talk just wait til 2016 that's our year? It will take some truly great work on the D side of the ball in terms of recruiting LB and DL that can step in and play right away.

Not to mention a brand new O no matter who comes back.

No one wants to bash Les as he exits stage left but you must acknowledge the holes esp on D that are there next year.

You mean one title of any kind in 5 years?

That's too unrealistic at a school like LSU? Because that's where we currently sit.

I swear you guys act like we're southern miss for Gods sakes.

So if the new coach does that once he is gone?

They may not be concerned about unreal expectations and I wouldn't want a coach who think he could get the job done. But our fans do have unrealistic expectations.

This. No one thinks its NC or bust next year. Especially with the lack of depth on the lines and LB

This. The defense will be going through a transition period and I have no expectations for them.

I expect competent game play on offense and a more disciplined team. I'd be OK with 9-4 and thrilled with anything 10 and up if the offense and team looks like they know what they are doing.

I loved that season to death. I didn't care about a bunch of fancy passing because we were badass on defense and special teams, confident and cocky in every aspect of the game. I hated 1/9, with a passion, but it didn't take away the memories of that season. This team has been soft ever since the beginning of the 2013 season.

We don't get turnovers like we use to, we don't lay the freaking wood like we use to, our WRs don't bitch slap people, our OL doesn't run fools over, Miles looks not inspired during every game, it just looks awful.

The saving grace is Fournette.

His competitiveness has been trending in a downward spiral the past couple of seasons, with these last few games being below rock bottom.

So no. He no longer is competitive.

I will be satisfied with a well coached team with a modern offense.

I'll be satisfied with a team that:

Passes more than three times successfully in a half

Can cross the 50 yard line and not make a trophy for it.

Knows clock management and timeout strategy.

Gets plays in efficiently and understandably.

Utilizes techniques and skills that match the talent on the field.

Isn't so predictable with formations that everyone in the world knows what's coming.

Doesn't get ravaged by senseless penalties.

Won't play not to lose or sit on a lead in the first half.

Won't bench players who are hot or for making a mistake while they're productive.

Understands that there are more than lateral pass routes or 30 yards downfield.

Won't run option repeatedly to the short side of the field as a general rule, if you chose to run it.

Won't have veteran quarterbacks that never understand velocity, arc, touch and anticipation on passes.

Will adjust a gameplan after realizing the original one isn't working.

I think that's a start.

I call bullshite on this, and God, I hope the administration doesn't feel this way. If you are going to sack the coach midseason, you BETTER have someone big to replace him. We are not 3-7, we're 7-3.

Miss St makes that FG, that's 6-4. We struggled heavily with Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and Western Kentucky. I have no doubt in my mind that we'd have struggled with McNeese St as well.

The only way we beat TAMU is if this team plays truly inspired football and wants one last win for Miles. If they don't, we lose bad. In that scenario you are looking at a team that's 7-4 and has went 5-3, 4-4, and 4-4 in SEC play over the last 3 years.

A team that has went 9-10 the past 3 years in their own division (a losing record).

A team that has 2 back to back top 5 classes (something they haven't done since 2002 and 2003) and was already loaded with talent.

A team that has an 11th season head coach where it should not look this hopeless on offense AND defense AND special teams. We are lucky, TRULY LUCKY, to not have 4 losses already.

No doubt that Miles needs to go, but I can see it now. 'Keys to the Ferrari', and 'cupboard is full' type of terms. New guy will have to produce right away given fan perception that we have all the pieces for an NC run next year.

It's a perilous situation and any coach we hire will think about 200 times before signing with LSU.

I disagree. Fans are looking for a change in philosophy, meaning competent offense and competent QB play. Solid rebuilding defense. Not sure anyone expects a championship next year for sure, but we are expected to legitimately be in the hunt.

So you would be happy with a worse season that 80% of Miles tenure while paying out 17 million in buyout plus the new staff's contracts?

No one understands this. You don't fire a coach because you think coaching is holding you back and then hire a coach to do worse than the coach you said couldn't coach. Good god.

You can do this with every team. I love how supposed lsu fans act like every close win is really a loss and the only reason it was close was because of shitty ol Miles. It's proves which posters hate Miles more than they love lsu. I've never seen a fan base more willing to shite on its own program's accomplishments just because they don't like the coach.
