quote:Exactly. This was a great solution when you look at the affect it has on winning games. People are trying to figure out the financial part of it. If we were so worried about money, why did we buy Miles out? We should have just let him finish out his contract if money was such a concern. Just my opinion.
kids and coaches have a chance at going to Atlanta....and we will have played 5 SEC home games back to back years, the uproar if that happened to Alabama on this board would be epic

I believe it was reported that Florida insisted that this game start no later than 3:30. Not sure there is even a TV time set for this game yet.

feel like playing Florida will generate more revenue than having played South Alabama
It will this season, but it won't generate more revenue than playing S. Alabama this season and Florida next season would have.

plus now the kids and coaches have a chance at going to Atlanta..
The odds of getting to Atlanta are so slim as to be a pretty moot point. Additionally, LSU plays three conference games, none of which are gimmes, before the Florida game is even played. They may very well be eliminated from contention a month before hand.

No, they haven't. LSU hosted a game as the visiting team last year. All proceeds from ticket sales went to SCar. LSU was limited to an SEC travel roster and was unable to host recruits at that game.

Correction, LSU traded a home game with South Alabama for one with Florida... which will result in more people coming to the game and being more interested.
Which brings the university and local economy dollars.
But don't let this interrupt your stupidity...
LSU charges $40-50 average for South Alabama tickets this year. LSU would've been charging $90-100 for Florida tickets next year. There is no Florida game in Baton Rouge next year now, and LSU is honoring the South Alabama tickets for the Florida game. So it'll be a sellout on Nov 19 now instead of being maybe 80% full...but at a cost of LSU giving up $50 or so per ticket by the UF home game next year being lost in exchange for getting UF in place of S. Alabama this year.

Oh my goodness... LSU wasn't going to come out of this looking shiny and bright there was just no way. We get more money playing FL then we do playing SA, SA is also a worthless game when compared to an SEC opponent. So what keep SA and let the FL game go to waste? I don't understand some of you? I'm personally happy bc we at least get to play the game now, time makes no difference that's just being picky and us losing the home game next year is just how it is. We basically lose the SA game and that's it. It's a trade from this year to next. So what

And how do you know that the SEC won't compensate this somehow? I'm sure LSU and FL will get about the same compensation for this screw job by the SEC and FL.

Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. But considering how pissed the LSU administrators and fan base are about Foley's BS last weekend causing LSU to have to pay a $1.5 million buyout to get out of South Alabama game plus costing LSU an SEC home game next year, if the SEC was compensating LSU for some of those losses, I'd think they'd be making that known publicly to lessen the backlash they're getting over this fiasco.

I don't have any tickets to USA game.
You missed the boat on my explanation.
Reread what I posted.
LSU is not losing millions of dollars on the season ticket portion of swapping USA for FU.
LSU's only losing @ $65 per ticket on the single seats sold (most of which go to opposing fans). Do you EVER see tickets available to the general public from LSU ticket office for the likes of Alabama and FU or any other big game in Tiger Stadium?
The answer is no. You only see them on the secondary market at inflated prices.
LSU is NOT losing $65 x 100,000 on each seat in Tiger Stadium because of how season tickets are priced ($425) and what their perceived face value is, a number made up by someone in the Athletic Department.

That is not what season ticket holders pay for the tickets. The only people paying this is single ticket sales (if any) and opposing fans.
LSU charges $425 for 7 home games and assigns a random value to the games it thinks will be a big draw. The average price for a season ticket holder's ticket is $60.71 before the Tradition Fund/TAF fee is added on, but that's not included in the face value printed on the ticket.

LSU got screwed plain and simple
This. Some of you posters sound like Stanky and the national media praising Florida. And quit saying we got into this debacle because UForfeit didn't have a contingency plan. Foley didn't want his injured team to have to play us and orchestrated this whole thing. They got exactly what they wanted. Now we have to face the Faggies on the road on short rest from what is always a very physical contest with the Gaytors and they get us after the Gumps have beaten us up.
Others in this thread have well documented the financial fricking we are taking.
Screw Foley
Screw Sankey
Screw the SEC

Frankly, I'm way more concerned of the lost revenue for our local businesses than I am for LSU.
That neutral game bs, parking fees, ticket prices, etc. I don't care that LSU loses money, it's BR area businesses that matters.
