Just wait until about half way thru the conference schedule, and the beat downs continue to a half empty PMac. GoodOleLess unbelievably hung on for years as bad as he was, so I figure JJ unfortunately has another 2 or 3 to prove his ignorance. Daddy Dale must be proud of TheBagMan.

Is this surprising to you? Are yall forgetting that LSU, in all sports, is known for playing down to their opponents?

Last year after looking horrible some games, losing to Charleston, barely winning some easy games, they went out and lost to Oklahoma (ranked top 3 at the) time on a last second shot

Not saying we'll beat UK or anything but have some hope my gosh

If you have an AD that won't spend the money for a high profile coach because he really doesn't care for the basketball program, it makes it really hard to build a high profile basketball program such as the Dale Brown era.... makes it also hard to recruit top notch players from around the country against other top programs such as Kentucky, Duke, etc.... you need a big name coach to bring in the big name players...

Have you seen those teams play this year or are you pretending to know what you're talking about again?

Doesnt take a genius to know the hcbu teams are step down from charleston and wake forest. We barely scraped by both.

And who the hell are you to talk? You think this team is better than last years which shows you obviously dont know wtf youre talking about.

This will probably get whacked but we have Southland/SWAC talent level other then Blankly on the team

Not sure it needs to be whacked, but I would say it's just plain untrue.

Blakeney could have played just about anywhere, Reath is significantly better than I expected and having watched some of the other SEC teams honestly stacks up pretty darn well from what I have seen.

Sampson and Victor were both top 50 talents coming out if high school, Mays was a top 100 recruit. Patterson though plagued by inconsistency and what at times to me seems a surly attitude has had some really good games against quality teams in his time here.

No we don't have as much talent as we've had in a couple of CJJ's previous teams but to sy we have SWAC talent IMHO is curious rationalization.

We have been picked to finish 12th out of 14 teams in the SEC. We will do much better than that. Who knows? When expectations are this low, it's hard not to exceed them. When a coach exceeds ridiculously low expectations, especially this far into his tenure, it's to his discredit that expectations were so low, not to his credit that he managed to outperform them.

That's my take on this reality as well Nuts. I think the fact that we are picked 12th has more to do with how our leadership is perceived moreso that relative talent.

So because we are picked to finish lower than in reality we should be expected to, should we finish any better it could be touted as a success/overachievement. That doesn't work for me.

Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina are the brand names of college basketball. They draw players off of their reputation. Coaches help but they exist independent of the coach also. Kind of like when Canada was asked why he chose LSU and he said because it is LSU and then said are you kidding me.

As for the Dale Brown era, he was a total unknown when he was hired and had no other head coaching experience. He was largely hired on the recommendation of John Wooden at UCLA. Everyone on this board would have been against his being hired. And it took Dale more than five years to put together his first really good team. Johnny's record is better than his for the first four years.

All of you who say I am a CJJ pumper are full of it. I am a "fact" defender. If the team collapses like they did last year and we have a losing season, I will be ready for a change also. Just don't understand why you idiots can't wait until the games are actually played before you roll out your judgement.
