Was at a wake today for one of my wife's great uncles, and talk to her last living great uncle. Willard Landry. He stated that he played football for LSU back in the 40s. I've looked on the web and have found his name mentioned but can't find any other pics or info. If anyone can let me know where I may find somemore info or pics, I would greatly appreciate it.

I found this in the list of all-time lettermen on lsusports.net, so he did in fact play at LSU...

You might be able to find something on Ebay. An old LSU yearbook, game program, etc. It's a longshot, but you never know.

also, I see that his jersey number was "10"

and his quarterback was actually Y.A. Tittle...which is just cool as hell...

ETA: Bernie Moore was his coach and he played against Arkansas in the 1947 Cotton bowl.

He mentioned Tittle, and when he found out I was originally from Texas brought up playing Rice. Just really trying to find out as much as I can. He'll he may be one of the oldest living Tiger football players left. Great man and very humble.

Thanks a bunch spankum

Go spend time with him and get as many stories as you can . My dad was captain on the 58 championship team and used to tell some awesome stories before he passed away . Sure do miss the tales of the old blood and guts days ...

Absolutely do that. And take a recorder with you. You will hear things from him that I doubt you would be able to find anywhere else.

Y.A. Tittle vs Charie Connerly. What a matchup. Both go on to be great pros.

I have my Dad's 1947, 1948 and 1950 yearbooks. Some nice Tiger history in those old Gumbos.
