The NBC world Series starts in Wichita tomorrow. Traditionally it has been a summer league tournament for college guys and others that are out of college, but are trying to keep the pro dream alive. Starting last year they have brought in a group guys that are retired from MLB to try and boost attendance. I enjoy watching the college guys that are hungry and have something to play for. Which brings me to my question.

Are there any current LSU players that are participating in the tournament? I'm not even sure if anyone keeps up with where guys are playing in the summer. However, I figured that if anyone in the SEC keeps up with their baseball players over the summer, it would be LSU fans.

I played in it one year in 1993 and there were quite a few ex-MLB players

Played with Superior Bolt out of Jackson, MS. It was a cool experience.

I guess I worded that wrong. Yes, there have been plenty former MLB players have been in it. Generally, they were attempting to get back to being a pro again. This year and last year's former MLB players are guys like Tim Hudson, Adam LaRoche, etc. that are fun to go watch for the novelty, but aren't necessarily out there to play for the scouts.

I wish there were more teams spread throughout the country trying to qualify for the tournament, especially from the southeast. however, I also realize that most of these teams are on a pretty small budget and it costs money to house a team for 2 weeks if you make the championship round.

Anyway, I saw the other thread with summer assignments and I didn't see any teams that are in the bracket. I didn't know if anyone else had any info connecting LSU players to any of the teams that are in the bracket. LINK

Looking forward to a couple of weeks of good cheap baseball!
