Spankum....Good Recommendation of the one in downtown Franklin...they also have the original in Leipers Fork (where many stars live out in the country) Not sure I would recommend going to the original unless you are who someone likes to go out and see TN country side (which is beautiful!). If you like that.... then it is well worth the drive and visit.

I actually did not know about the lieper's fork location...the next time I am in Nashville on business, I may check that one out...

Stay away. No different then Cracker Barrel and the wait is over 2 hours
You're doing it wrong.
First it's a Tuesday and there won't be a line.
Second if there's a wait just order it to go and eat it outside at one of the picnic tables. Voila.
Third Just get a dozen biscuits with red eye gravy and drive the 1/2 mile to my house and I'll pour you some tap water.
Fourth eat there Wednesday morning and hop on the Natchez Trace when done and take it all the way home. Best drive ever.

I know this is not what most people think about Loveless but I didn't really find their biscuits anything special. I know they have been named the best, blah blah blah but they were too bread-like and not enough biscuit like for my taste.
The food was ok. I didn't find it anything to go out of my way for. Glad I went, but I'll be just as happy to go elsewhere in the future.

its like johnny's pizza. you have to eat them a couple times for the crack to properly fused with your system then you start to crave them.
i know when i first moved here i bitched endlessly about nashville being known for...'biscuits'. i'm like WTF put some spice in yo damn food.

As yall can see by the user name, I live here in Nashville. 24 years old and just graduated from grad school at Lipscomb. Thought I'd come on here and give some Recommendations for everyone coming up.
Hotels: Walking Distance
The Omni. Hampton Inn. Renaissance Hotel. Hotel Indigo. Short uber or can away are any hotels located by Vandy.
Nightlife:
Nashville is broken down into 4 night life areas.
1. Obviously Broadway. Honkytonk Central, Tootsies, The Stage, Rippy's, and occasionally Paradise Park (cheap Pitchers), are where I go. However, the new Acme building just opened up and it is incredible. 4 stories, restaurants on all floors and bars everywhere. Typically it's a classier place. It's ok the corner of 1st and Broadway.
Like I said, I'm 24 so I go to Demonbreun St. Most of the time. It's right there near Vanderbilt and Belmont. More of College crowd. Not saying older folks wouldn't have a blast. Tin Toof (my favorite), South, and Dan Mcguiness.
Then you have midtown which is basically walking distance from Demonbreun. Winners and Losers are the best bars in my opinion. Rebar is fun sometimes.
East Nashville- gonna keep this short and say hipster.
Food:
High end classier places.
The Southern, Whiskey Kitchen, San Anejo, Virago, Kayne Prime, Merchants, ACME building.
Hope this helps!! Yall have no idea how excited I am to see the P & G take over Nashville. GEAUX TIGERS

yep that place keeps getting better. with the MASSIVE backyard its way easier to get a table these days when the weather is nice.
worst case scenario you have to go across the street to enjoy the BEST tacos in town at mas tacos.

Haha my bad! Notice the places I recommended were in the same area. Martins is probably a little out out of the way for most people unfamiliar with the area. Great bbq though.

nashville has come a HUGE HUGE way from 1996 when i moved here.
restaurants sucked so bad i would go back to houston on trips just to eat
now i'd say they're comparable to any city.
vietnamese, thai, indian and authentic mexican abound.
my favorite mexican place is la jaliesence (or however you spell it) up gallatin pike that has the authentic $1.25 tacos and corona familiar

There is a Courtyard Downtown, a Marriott Downtown, and the Renaissance is also a Marriott property. Those are walking distance. I'm in your boat and have points to use. I plan on probably staying at the Courtyard Downtown. When I checked the other day, the Marriott website wasn't showing the downtown Marriott on a rewards stay, but you might be able to call them and book that way using points.
Then you have Marriott at Vandy and Courtyard at Vandy. Those are a less than 2 mile cab/Uber/Lyft ride away. Cabs in Nashville aren't as bad as what the OT says they are in NO/BR.

As far as food is concerned, I'll throw in a must-go vote for Pharmacy for lunch. Pucket's is also great, but Pharmacy is top notch.
I'd also recommend Sambuca if you're trying to have a nice date night with the wife/mistress/GF.
If you want Sushi, Virago is awesome.

If you're gonna be in the gulch, drink at Yazoo Brewery rather than going to flying saucer
