Has to be a Burrow/Mathieu argument if we're talking skills-to-fruition. Not to mention both were not blue chip recruits.

I think Burrow gets the nod, but Mathieu is on my LSU Mount Rushmore.

With apologies to Burrow, but Kevin Faulk was the best ballplayer I have seen at LSU. He was consistent for all 4 years. He was a great runner and a good receiver out of the backfield. I remember a few times watching him crush would be blitzers.

Basketball.....Shaq would be an easy answer because he was such a dominant force. But back in the day Hi C Carter was an iron man. He was consistent in his 4 years. Always very good in all aspects of the game.

In baseball, I am going with an unpopular choice but Joey Belle....before he was Albert. He had great talent and at least in college, was the most devastating batter I could remember along with Eddy Furniss of the gorilla ball era.

As amazing as Burrow was this past year, my answer remains Maravich. His numbers are in a completely different stratosphere from anyone else in any collegiate sport. I am not aware of any athlete in any sport that has as much distance between himself and the second best in his sport, as Maravich does.

This would be more widely recognized if LSU had put an actual team around him. And to the ignoramuses who believe he would have won more at LSU if he hadn't "hogged the ball", he is LSU's all time leader in assists. And he didn't have a three point line to further pad his numbers,

Burrow and the Pistol are the only two correct answers if we are talking the statistical best. Baseball is a toss up of who your preferred but I’d have Nola as my top choice.

If we are talking about who were some game changers but not on the greatest teams, I’d go with Kevin Faulk (he was a key cog in changing the direction of the program to get local talent to stay) and Ben McDonald for basically the same thing to get the dynasty put into motion.

And baseball is alot tougher. Find it funny so many said bregman. At lsu, he was good, but hardly one of the greatest. Guys like furniss, cresse, walker, russ johnson, jason williams, aaron nola, lloyd peever, and big ben are ahead of hjm. Id lean nola on the mound and walker at the plate

I always remind people that Maravich was once carried off the court by the opposing team’s fans when they played UGA at UGA.
